No. Oh no. Naked lunch is about the dark forces underneath that truly drive things, as a reporter it matters not whether he is out of his mind or inside interzone getting into the labirynth of it. Its like alphaville written by the opposite than Lemmy Caution - the opposite faction outside in the zone. And plumbing the depths of madness and life as one ugly thing. Beautiful

all that liberation but according to media sources, nothing much has changed. we're all oppressed. you guys were supposed to make real changes. but no, we still have a constant looming threat of losing our freedom and rights. we're still worrying about war.... how could you mess up so badly? all you had to do was NOT DO what your forefathers did. but you didn't did you? You did worse things like get two jobs to pay for new cars, extra tv sets, you ignored your kids, you ignored your spouse. you continued to vote for people who had documented histories of creating problems. you were given the gift of the future and you threw it away with both hands. Go moan for man....

I do not understand why you said Angela was forced to marry Bayardo, when she loves someone else. Where in the text was that evident? She definitely was not a virgin on her wedding night, but there is no mention of any lover that she had. And what do you mean by the 'death of her husband set her free'? Her 'husband' never died. Are you talking about Bayardo? He returned her on their wedding night and they went separate ways but she fell in love with him and wrote him letters for 20 years. How on earth did she lost her husband to death? Finally Bayardo did come back to her. I am quite confused by your analysis on these points. Otherwise, thank you for this video.

I am searching for a new movement like the Beats for this dreary, near-hopeless culture we see around us today. We need a new set of voices steeped in the arts and music and courage to steer our spirits towards the liberation required to lift our collective souls to a place that is always nearby but faraway...just like the Beats took 10 years to divert attention away from convention and led to the late 60's and the counter-culture.

An heir to the Burroughs Business Machine fortune, he didn't have to work but he wanted to have an answer ready in case somebody asked him, "What do you DO?" 'I'm an avant-garde writer.' Actually, he was a no-talent faker, like Ginsberg.

No man... The nut jobs today corrupted the idea... They've gone so far east they've become west and haven't even realized it and aren't capable of realizing it... Ya dig? Politics is like a globe man... It goes round and round... People blame republicans then elect democrats then blame democrats and elect republicans It's the circular logic fallacy That's because the real rulers want it that way.. they want the US vs Them mentality... Check it man, there is no is, there is no them ... There is only stardust interacting with stardust looking back at the stars trying to understand itself There is no straight rights, no trans rights, no gay rights, men's or women's, black or white rights ... Only human rights.. We are all stardust arranged in different proportions Seen though egotistical distortions Don't let the insane corrupt the true message... Like the Nazis did to the swastika or the Klan did to the Southern Cross Rebel Flag .. Civility, basic human respect and understanding, kindness, empathy, education, artists of all kinds from wood and metal to paint and music... Don't let the insane corrupt the ideals... The robber barons want us to be divided so they con conquer and control us.. Don't you see... They want the left to go whole woke hog so in a generation they can snap back more restrictive than ever before We need to put an end to the insanity

Thank you from Turkey. I ,as a person who are into didactic and informative books instead of novels, felt overwhelmed while reading this beautiful book. Because there was not almost any dot in the book :) That's why I'm here to understand the book more than I understand while reading.

Those beat writers only had one talent-self promotion. Ginsberg was an idiot (Just watch him on Firing Line with William Buckley, which is also on KZfaq. Oh, dear...), Gregory Corso wrote on good poem, William Burroughs stuff was almost incomprehensible and he shot his wife in the head, and Jack Kerouac‘s career was based on a lucky break-the regular New York Times book reviewer was going to pan On the Road, but he went on vacation and his replacement gave the book a glowing review before he could return. Kerouac was an alcoholic who let Gore Vidal take advantage of him on night at the Hotel Chelsea. If these guys were around today they’d have a reality show. What a bunch of messed up people reshaping that into a philosophy.

Interesting book. It's not like a regular book. No plot. I noticed he can give a description with a few words and create a detailed mental image. The beginning of the book where he describes the junkie getting a 'hotshot' is pure OMG. Something like, 'A needle full of clotted blood hanging from a blue arm'. Yikes, that is brutal.
