Thanks for the demo. How do you exclude your fellow rescuers from being detected? Presumably they will be wearing Recco reflectors too, and moving around as well.

Is that true that New Makalu is made of polyester?
@StuFacewest9 ай бұрын
Hi, The waterproof membrane in the new Makalu is GORE-TEX ePE which is made from Polyethylene. The outer fabric and the liner are made from Polyamide. Both are plastics similar to polyester but with slightly different chemical compositions.

you think i can mount this on every other shoes also? Maybe Hoka?
@gow2ilove Жыл бұрын
Yes you can do, I'd recommend using an older pair of shoes. I would first put them in where you want them, remove them and put them in again with a strong glue

Yes they're quite simple with the dedicated tool that you are provided. Can be done without, but it's a bit trickier

Would you remove them after winter season for say, spring, muddy terrain, then when it's winter again, frozen and snowy you'd put them back again? Or once it's in you don't remove it?

Hey, I have the same recon BT and mine does not "LOCK" in SEARCH MODE. IT looks in position on SEND and OFF. Is that normal, or is that part of the material recall?
@oxo426 ай бұрын
It's a feature. If you slide just shove the slide up, you want it to lock into the safest position which is transmitting for you.
@craigbosko22292 жыл бұрын
I already see one flaw with it and that is the zipper bag, wearing gloves or mittens there's no way anyone can unzip that bag or what if the zipper breaks and there's more than one or two people buried.All the other companie have a buckle and you can wear mittens and gloves while undoing it especially the BCA TRACKERS !

I like the simplicity of the search button, no need to mess arround or take gloves off. But it seem to only really detect a 30m range?
@craigbosko22292 жыл бұрын
Just because it's picking up another signal at 30 meters doesn't mean it will only pick up at 30 meters,it means it just happens to pick up at 30 meters and it will pick up further than 30 meters.I own a BCA TRACKER 2 AND TRACKER 4.Maxium range on both of them is 55 meters but I've picked up 62 meters on the tracker 2 and 57 meters on the tracker 4,no problem, I can do that on a regular basis.

Thanks for the tip with the pot stand studs. Threading them in in alternating direction makes them much easier to take out with fat thumbs and especially with cold hands. This is my only gripe with this stove, if you drop one of those studs out in the wild you'd be lucky to find it again. That aside I've had mine a couple of years and out of the many stoves I have it's my favourite all-in-one.

One concern about this concept: The transceiver is just held in place by that plastic harness without additional strap. In the event of an avalanche it doesn't seem too unlikely that it could get kicked out of the harness. That would mean it switches to search mode because of the proximity sensor, plus search mode is locked so even if the proximity sensor just gets uncovered temporarily, you're in search and can only hope for the auto revert to kick-in. Any thoughts on that?
@luxxn3 жыл бұрын
My thoughts on that: If you are buried by an avalanche, the sensor will also be covered - regardless of whether the transceiver is in the plastic harness or not
@viktorsvensson67432 жыл бұрын
@@luxxn guys, read the product info from the manufacturer first, then comment on possible design errors. Because this way you'd see, there are no such design flaws. Have you ever heard about a secondary avalanche? It's not that uncommon actually for searchers to get buried in such cases. So what needs to happen now for the lvs device is to switch from receiving to sending mode, otherwise you cannot be found! This device has got you covered, it does it automatically by switching to sending when not moving for a certain amount of time! There you have it. No probs

Thanks. But why not recargeable batteries? I use Sanyo Eneloop Pro, wich is extremely good in the cold, and has a very low self discharge rate. Keep voltage very high until empty. Better to charge a half full battery, than to throw away a half full alkaline battery. 🤷♂️
