It is so much easier to buy a unit with intact buttons. The unit can be easily disassembled and then replace the whole front facia of the unit with good buttons on the working unit in your car. I did make my own file for the button in fusion 360 which worked and stayed on, but the quality of standard 3d printing (not resin) is just not good enough.

I found that using jubilee clips with silicone hoses can crush the old plastic water fittings at the RHS of the engine. So I am in the process of changing them to pressure die case alloy ones. Wish I had tried the spring clamps on the silicon hoses to see if they would work / seal. Looking forward to the 3D printing. 😊
@StuSandman12 күн бұрын
Ahhh noted appreciate that , we've done a fair bit of the hoses ( next video ) managed to use the ones that came off , the spring band clamps instead of jubilee clips though where they were originally used I've used them too. Though I guess we won't know for sure until engines started and running and theres no leaks 🤦🏻🤣
@bobjarvis178711 күн бұрын
Watch the clearance to the back of the fan blades. Caught me out, as the hoses get hot they expand a bit. The fan shaved the outer corner of one top hose a bit!

@@StuSandmanI was the same as you, but my partner always loved the mk1 in red and got one in 2015 just by chance after our neighbour turned up with it and within a week she had charmed him and he sold it to her, and she totally adores it to this day. I fitted the rear bumper honeycomb grille but apart from that it’s been kept standard. We stay at the top of a hill so we have a winter set of wheels / tyres and they are amazing in the snow.
