This is really good... back in the day, carving down a hill was an art form. I still do this. On my Penny or my Alva boards. Surf style is what it's about. Thanks

I've always pushed mongo in the 80's 90's and did not know it was wrong because no one ever told me. I'm learning to push regular and it is like learning to ride a skateboard all over again. ugh

The 27 inch is great for old school tricks. Like hangten nose wheelies, tail wheelies, Christie's, etc. great for that 70's style which is what I prefer

Hey Tyler, should I put grip tape on my penny board?
@kreiyt284 күн бұрын
i have also been thinking about putting grip tape on my nickel board because sometimes my shoes slips. But i don't think grip tape would stick onto the board because of the way the board was designed to have these molds that would function as the grip. But i think yeah, it's possible to put grip tape, i just don't know how or what method to use in order to make the grip tape properly stick to it.
@kreiyt284 күн бұрын
Although, come to think of it, you could possibly sand off the board, but that would damage it in order have a surface smooth enough to put grip tape on. But for me, I'll guess i'll keep it that way so as to not ruin the looks of it. I just like the way the penny board has waffles and that's one of the reasons I bought it. But hey, it's up to you how you want your board to be! Goodluck!

I haven't had a genuine 22 inch penny but I had a knockoff and they are a TERRIBLE size for me. I am size 13 shoe and the entire length of it minus kick tail was about as long as my front foot and my back foot going sideways without an inch to spare. The flex of the board just seems to make it worse compared to the Landyacthz mini Dinghy which is the same size but its wood. bigger people above 6 foot I think should definitely either buy larger plastic ones or go with a wooden deck if it's about 25 inches or shorter.

Thank you for showing the raw side of learning new things on your board! Too often beginners like myself come across experienced riders on their board and get overwhelmed when we don't pick up the skill fast enough to look as cool or effortless as the experienced riders do, but we forget that even the most experienced riders started off just like us, the struggling beginners. Your transparency of your learning journey is a massive encouragement and assurance that I'm on the right track, and a reminder that it takes time to learn a new skill, here I was scratching my head off thinking why can't I do a kick turn yet when I'm barely 1 week into penny boarding!! 🫣 Tyler you're awesome, never stop making content please, I'm always so happy to watch your videos! ❤

Absolutely!! I’m glad you feel that way, and I appreciate you letting me know! I know it can be challenging at the beginning, and I’ve found it’s also so easy to compare to other people. The coolest thing is to focus in on your own progress and the little things you find yourself improving upon. Keep the fire going, and keep at it, Candy! 🤙🏼

Is a penny board good for me if I want to go to the skatepark and ride down ramps?

I would not recommend a penny board if that is what your main goal is. Instead, id recommend a traditional wooden skateboard for that

Hey Tyler, your videos are what motivated me to get started on this sport after dropping it in my early teens from being discouraged by my mom as she thought it was too dangerous, and that I am a girl. Fast forward nearly 10 years later as a 24 year old now, with full autonomy over my own decisions and hobbies, I went and bought a second hand penny board and started from scratch. Let me tell you, it's the best decision I've made. Like you, I've struggled with a lot of things mentally and physically, but I want to push my limits and see what I can achieve regardless of what people tell me to not do, even though I knew it's out of concern for my safety and well being. That's something that can be solved by throwing on some protective gears so I do just that! I've only been riding for 30 minutes each day getting the hang of the fundamentals, but each time I learn a new skill on the board has felt so liberating, even if it's as miniscule as learning to steer left or right or going down a small slope. I feel euphoric. Your videos speak to me on a personal level, and hearing you talk about the reasons you ride made me feel compelled to share my thoughts too. Thank you for all that you do and for encouraging all of us, regardless of the reasons we want to ride. Looking forward to your future uploads. Have fun out there and be safe!

LET’S GOOOOO!!! This comment absolutely made my day! It’s totally awesome hearing your story, and I totally love that you want to see and do all you can in life. Your spirit is refreshing, and feeling euphoria is the absolute greatest thing ever! Keep crushing it, and keep on cruising! 🤘🏼

Tyler, did you make any video on picking up the board after getting off of it? I'm a beginner so I just stop and bend my knees and pick up, however the other day I saw a young lady jump off it then pick it up while it's still rolling and I'm impressed. I'd like to learn that if you have a video. Thanks a lot as always.

@pennyboardtyler14 күн бұрын
Yeah it takes a lot of effort! Because of that, it'll vary depending on each rider. I'd say there's not much need to go past 2-minutes unless you're trying to set a personal record or just become fitter overall
