From Wyoming. I've seen one, watched him for twenty or thirty minutes in a log pile. It was at some privately owned cabins nestled in a National Park. Didn't know what I was looking at. Looked like an odd cat from the angle. So beautiful. This one was all golden in color.

Don’t forget about Wildlife Services’ de facto “government-mandated poaching” and poisoning of wolves and other wildlife. (I’m referring to Wildlife Services under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, NOT to be confused with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the Department of the Interior.)

Otters hunts beavers. Beavers's defense is not working on otters as they can swim and dive underwater.

@@NetNN "Otters hunts beavers." Not sure if that was intended as a joke but no, otters do not hunt beavers. Like most animals, they eat almost exclusively things that are smaller than themselves.

@@beeble2003 Otters eat whatever they can catch and overpower. They are smart, agile, and strong predators. They do eat a lot of amphibians and fish, but they'll also take out sizeable beavers, raccoons, plus snapping turtles, snakes, and small gators. Of course, gators can also eat otters, so it goes both ways!

It looks like they already created a small path, must be taking the same route every time.
@wyominguntrapped7548 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Interestingly enough, beavers create the small 'path' you see there. That path is imprinted by beavers repeatedly sliding over the dam on their belly. Otters may use this trail, but this type of path is made by the beaver's belly rubbing on the ground and is found all throughout beaver dam complexes.

It's beautiful seeing bears do exactly what they are supposed to do: living wild without human interference or persecution. Wildlife does not deserve to be shot, trapped, snared, poisoned, pursued, or vilified. Humans thus far are nowhere near acting as competent stewards of the natural world.
