i Like to Science!
Some teachers spend too much time going over the introductory content in their classrooms with lectures and note taking. As a science teacher, I need my students to be "doing science" in the classroom, not reading facts about it. Research shows that when students are actively involved in the classroom with inquiry- based activities, they gain those crucial critical thinking and problem solving skills which allows for a deeper understanding of the material. Therefore, a teacher needs to free up their class time in order for students to tackle these more complex tasks.
As part of my Flipped Classroom, this channel highlights several mini lessons and demos on all things science! Students watch these introductory lessons at home then come to class prepared to apply the knowledge gained to tackle more challenging activities! The ability to rewatch these videos over and over again is like rewinding the teacher's lecture, which can now be done anytime to clear things up!
