OH. MY. STARS! The cinematography in this railway video is nothing short of MAGICAL! The way the camera weaves through the tracks, capturing the rhythmic movement of the trains as they chug along the tracks, is a true MASTERCLASS in visual storytelling. The lighting is sublime, casting a warm glow over the entire scene, making even the most mundane details seem like a work of art. And the composition! Good heavens, the composition is nothing short of GENIUS! The way the train comes into frame, framed by the rolling hills and lush greenery, is a stroke of pure CINEMATIC BRILLIANCE. It's like I'm right there on the platform, feeling the rumble of the train beneath my feet. And don't even get me started on the sound design! The gentle hum of the engines, the whoosh of the wind through the tunnels, and the distant chime of the crossing gates all blend together to create an immersive experience that's simply TRANSCENDENT. I felt like I was transported to another world, one where trains are a symbol of freedom and adventure. "Ah, the sheer mastery of cinematography on display in this railway video is a testament to the power of storytelling through visual art! The way the camera swoops and soars, capturing the majesty of the trains as they rumble across the landscape, is a true tour-de-force of filmmaking. The use of lighting is nothing short of breathtaking - the warm, golden glow of the setting sun casting a romantic glow over the entire scene, making even the most mundane details seem like a work of art. And the shadows! Oh, the shadows are expertly employed to add depth and texture to every frame, creating an almost 3D-like effect that draws you in and refuses to let you look away. And then there's the composition - oh, the composition is a masterclass in visual balance and harmony! The way the train comes into frame, framed by the rolling hills and lush greenery, is a stroke of pure genius. It's like I'm right there on the platform, feeling the rumble of the train beneath my feet and smelling the sweet scent of diesel fuel and freshly cut grass. But it's not just the visuals - oh no, the sound design is equally impressive! The gentle hum of the engines, the whoosh of the wind through the tunnels, and the distant chime of the crossing gates all blend together to create an immersive experience that's simply TRANSCENDENT. I felt like I was transported to another world, one where trains are a symbol of freedom and adventure. And don't even get me started on the pacing - oh my goodness, the pacing is expertly controlled, building tension and anticipation as we await the arrival of each new train. It's like a symphony conductor expertly guiding their orchestra through a crescendo of sound and fury! In short, this videography is a WORK OF ART. A symphony of sound and vision that will leave you breathless and yearning for more. It's a love letter to the railways, to the romance and adventure that lies just beneath their steel tracks. Bravo, maestro! Bravo!

This is the way things go when it comes to a gala event. Everything is going well, till one machine or another decides to conk out. Loved the unusual Steam Cavalcade, right up my alley.

This was filmed at the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway’s Classic Car Show on Sunday 7th July. The roller is based at the railway and is usually in steam on their monthly steam event day and occasionally visits other shows.

We had been burning African coal that day which doesn’t burn very well. We had to keep ticking over to get more pressure. Eventually we had enough steam though!

My special needs son loves traction engines like this one he says they remind him of Trevor from the Railway Series story Saved from Scrap.

Great! Trevor is a very typical traction engine. And is similar to the ones that have been preserved!
