I remember Audie Murphy at Illinois and Joe Ponsetto at DePaul. It's totally cool to see these and discover the high school stories of some college stars I remember from the years to come.

As a kid from western burbs. I saw East Leyden with 7'1 Gore. 6'8 GrunwLd. 67 hendly get beat by that team? Hinsdale South had a guy Andy Burton a 6' guard who was great. Des plaines valley wS a football conf. Pirates were a TEAM. from 71 with Bu kners thornrige team to hirsch runner up with green. Po setto. Mathews. Levi Cobb. I watched some guys who played great team ball. Then Aguirre, isaih, was great. Funny that i was lucky enough to play for a great coach and be in the same position. It was football but same guys calling games. The best was Floyd Brown, the hardest working man of WGN. Also being on Ray Rayner was funny as hell 40 years later.

In those fast moving fast break games with a lot of dunking in the 80's, the officials miss a lot of traveling violations. This is my opinion. I played in the 60's and that was a much different style. Just watch real close and you will see it.

If fandual was around in 1978 and you bet on St. Joseph to win, you could've retired off the money you would have won! I don't believe Isiah Thomas thought they could win this game.

Westinghouse had no business losing this game. They had a huge size advantage, but allowed the one player St.Joe had beat them ( Isiah Thomas) should have double teamed him. Bad coaching that day.

They shouldn't have lost the year before either. They were even more loaded with Eddie Johnson, Taylor Kannaday, and Tommy Walker to go with Aguirre and Dillard. All Phillips had was Darius Clemons and a good half court man to man.

Isiah was ahead of his time with his ability to get buckets while playing off the ball. When he, Dumars, and Vinnie Johnson were in the back court for Detroit, all three could run the point and effectively play the 2. Didn't need the ball in their hands the whole time like a Westbrook, Harden, or Kyrie to make the opponent feel their effect.

Lockport won that year's tournament. They went 33-0. I still think that Collinsville was the best and they finished third with a 29-2 record. They lost to Lockport by a basket, but should have won.

Aguirre was as good as they come. If he was on a solid team? If Lakers took him? Worthy was great in the System. Lakers had Dantley and let him go cause they didn't think he could run floor. Already had Wilkes on wing and Jabbar inside. As for Chicago area ball in 70s. Cheeks, lester, thomas, rivers, corzine, ponsetto, Williams from Phillips and Louisville. Bo Ellis. Rickey Green and Phil Hubbard at Michigan. Quinn Buckner. They are just ones off the bat. IowA was in final 4 in 80. With Lester and another south city guy and 2 white guys from St. Laurance. Henson was just to vanilla I think. Only when self was there did they get players. 89 was guys who played at least since soph. Year. They ended up playing frontcourt against guys 3 5 inches bigger. They were not getting offers to play at any big program. Sorry meant 2005 for self. Hawkins at Bradley had a chicago core. LOYOLA WIYH Hughes, Williams from Delassale. Gholston was undersized guys who could play. Look at Ramblers of 2016. It is amazing that uic chicago st. Can't just committe to giving underrecruited chicago kids the reigns. Nobody wants you or respect you. Show them different.
