I like your attitude. I was once hit from behind, while stopped at a red light, by a drunk driver who was going roughly 50 mph. I felt very grateful it wasn’t worse than it was and that it got him off the road before he killed someone. No more curb camping for you guys. 😂

I hadn’t been in an accident for 20 plus years but on a trip to Southern California I pulled in behind a new Toyota 4 runner at a red light. Just him, my wife and mother in law. He put his vehicle in reverse and started coming back on us and kept coming despite me blowing the horn. Ramming the front grill. Both of us got out and decided we could pull into a nearby parking lot and exchanged information. I decided that police were not needed as he acknowledged his guilt to me. I also called his insurance company as well as mine to report claim. When we got back home, 900 miles later, he claimed that I rear ended him! With no police report and, I didn’t know then, my wife and mother in law can’t be witnesses as far as the insurance companies go, I ended up as the at fault party of the accident. Will never again be involved in an accident without a police report. This still ticks me off!

You guys were so lucky! Early in our camper days we were sideswiped at a stoplight by a gentleman who fell asleep at the wheel. He hit us going the opposite direction sideswiped the whole truck, took off both jacks, and tore the whole bathroom off. We found cracks and damage on the opposite side of the camper even from the twisting action. I don’t think yours was near as bad, but if you can I would get the camper off the truck to double check the whole underside. Insurance can be difficult as they do not really understand truck campers. After 2 months for us they totaled it. We lost a summer of travels that year but got a new camper!

Sleeping in a parked vehicle on the street is nuts! We use to just worry about drunks at night, which was bad enough. But now with so many people texting and driving, it's just crazy to park in the street. I had someone demolish my brick mailbox, because they were texting. I won't even park my vehicle on the street overnight even if I'm not sleeping in it. I personally think that ALL cities should ban parking in the streets because the roads are built so wide so that two cars can pass. If there are vehicles parked on both sides, sometimes it's tough for even one vehicle to get through. It's better to just pay to park.
