Once in solution, the solution must be used within 24 hours. After application, the water evaporates off, leaving behind a residue (Nibor-D) which will stay on the surface until cleaned off.

Great video. My problem is a 2 story building built in 1940 with 6 apartments on the 2nd floor and multiple businesses on the 1st floor. I'm seeing on floor 2 in a corner apartment only evidence of swarmer termites. Can I spot treat with this product or is there a recommendation you can give me that I can do myself? Btw, every Feb-march I spray a perimeter around the building and any of the remodel work we have done (gutting apartments to the studs walls and floors) I have saturated all new and existing wood with a product called termidor sc. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jim G.

I recently found out about DOT and purchased the other day for this very reason. In the past I’ve sworn by Boric acid but I find bad that using it in my kitchen or bathrooms it’s not affective in areas where it could get wet. So I still like boric acid just won’t be using it in wet areas. Heyn switching to the DOT because it can get wet also can be used as a dry powered.

Can I spray this on my boat and cover to help with spider replant?
@NisusCorp2 жыл бұрын
This product contains essential oils and could stain and/or leave a residue behind. It also has a strong fragrance. While it can be sprayed on the boat cover, we strongly suggest testing in a small area before applying to the entire area.
@stephaniemiller13682 жыл бұрын
@@NisusCorp have you ever heard of a customer using it on their boat?
@NisusCorp2 жыл бұрын
@@stephaniemiller1368 Web Out may be used in and around marinas and boats as well as boat docks. It will control spiders that are directly contacted by the Web Out. Because Web Out contains essential oils, it can penetrate and potentially stain fiberglass if the gel coat is oxidized. It may also stain metal. To reduce the concentration, you may dilute the product with one part Web Out to one part water. Always test a small inconspicuous area to test for staining/discoloration/residue before using on any surface. Always avoid allowing any pest management product from contacting surrounding water.

Please my dear teacher What is the amount of triethanolamine needed to dissolve 1 kg of boric acid
@NisusCorp2 жыл бұрын
That is not relevant for aqueous borate mixtures nor pest management applications. Boric acid in water has a solubility of 4% and DOT a solubility of about 15% at room temperature. Boric acid dissolves slowly as is crystalline and endothermic and DOT fast as amorphous and exothermic. Mixing boric acid with ethanolamine is done for liquid agriculture products such as "Boron 10" if farmers can’t find "Max-Up Boron 10" which is ethanolamine free. It is MEA rather that TEA that is used and it can achieve 10 % as elemental boron (about 47% as DOT - so very concentrated).

Does this work by DETERING termites from eating the wood or by KILLING them once they take a bite or walk on it?
@NisusCorp2 жыл бұрын
The active ingredient in Bora-Care is a borate salt. Borate salts work by taking advantage of a unique feature in the biology of termites, ants and other insects. If ingested by ants, beetles or termites, the insect becomes unable to extract nutrition from its food and starves to death. And because of this unique mode of action, insects cannot develop a resistance, ever. Bora-Care works differently than most other insecticides, termiticides and even other borate products on the market today. For starters, it isn’t applied to the soil but to the structure itself. Secondly, it isn’t just a repellent or a bait but a little bit of each. Bora-Care’s unique patented blend of glycols in combination with a borate salt provides results that are hard to beat. As soon as beetles and ants attempt to consume treated wood they die. Subterranean termites won’t even try to eat treated wood and if they attempt to build a tube on treated wood, the termites start to die. This alerts the termite colony and they abandon the wood.

I was/am very interested in that detail as well. Thanks for the first part though "This video describes the mode of action of boron as it relates to killing insects. "

Rashid, thanks for your question! To answer it, for two reasons, firstly humans are protected by their size (you would have to eat a relatively large amount of material - this can be checked with LD 50 values for example about 60,000 mgKg for Niban Granular bait), and secondly humans are protected by the very rapid excretion of excess boron in urine via the kidneys - this is a function that insects lack due to their differing excretion mechanisms via Malpighian tubules and solid rather than liquid nitrogenous excretion. - Dr. Jeff Lloyd, Sr Vice President, Innovation & Sustainability

@@NisusCorp Thanks for the detailed reply. Actually, I have been coming across many videos on youtube and articles on the web regarding the benefits of boron supplementation. As supplements are very expensive around here so I was exploring the possibility of using boric acid or borax as a source of boron. Then I came across this great video which explains the biochemistry of boron. Now NMN and NAD+ are very hot topics these days and your video just hit the final nail in the boron benefits coffin, for me, as it meddles with NAD+ and NADH metabolism. So what do you think about this whole boron supplementation affair? Is there any weight to it or is it a scam? Thanks and a very good day to you!
@NisusCorp3 жыл бұрын
@@RashidMalik-LabVIEW Boron is a proven essential element in plants and in some animals and thought probably essential in humans (it is not possible to prove in humans as it is not possible to remove it all from the diet). It has a set ADI (allowable daily intake) rather than a RDA (recommended daily intake) because of this. Boron appears important in cellular metabolism and in calcium metabolism and transport. I do not believe there is any need at all for boron supplements as there are high levels in a healthy diet including fruit and vegetables or in a glass of red wine. If you only eat meat and potatoes, then please eat some fruit and vegetables, have an avocado or eat some nuts and your boron requirement is likely met and this has a wealth of other benefits also. Thank you! Dr. Jeff Lloyd
