People who create those tent design where the fly does not protect properly the inner tent never slept outdoor under serious bad weather. I don't need to try, that's immediately a big no no when I see this design.

Your comment suggests a lack of data. I've had the Nemo 1p in many conditions including an entire night of rain in the Sawtooth Mnts (Idaho) and never had an issue. Very good tent.
@BaroudeurAventure
@BaroudeurAventure 4 күн бұрын
@@steve_____K307 Wait that it rains from the side with enough wind and you'll swim in the inner tent. It will fill up from the border. That's an old and well known issue when the fly is too close and too high from the inner tent on the borders. They do that for breathability purpose since most of people will camp in summer time, in brief that's a summer tent.

@@BaroudeurAventure In other words, a tent, like most pieces of backpacking gear have pros and cons that need to be prioritized when making a purchase decision. Optimizing one thing might come a the expense of another. In your case you might bias toward a more mountaineering capable tent and tolerate the extra weight, bulk, and purchase price. But others might swing a different direction more appropriate for the conditions they expect to use the gear in. Your initial statement didn’t hint at any of this.

@@steve_____K307 Bad conception is not about pros and cons, they are plenty of ways to keep a good airflow without doing compromise on the purpose of the gear wich is protecting from the rain. The conditions anyone expect to use a tent is for sleeping dry, this type of tent borders fail at it.
@steve_____K307
@steve_____K307 3 күн бұрын
@@BaroudeurAventure As for your comment “this type of tent borders fail at it”, really? Seems like the word would be getting around if that were the case. The fact is the scenario you presented with horizontal high wind rain is not the condition many of us expect our tents to be optimized for; and for good reason. In the Nemo’s case (for high-winds) the weak link might actually be the frame structure not rain protection, and there are cons to beefing up the frame. I’ve spent 150 nights in a variety of tents over the last 5 years and am pretty confident that my choice to optimize for low weight and minimal bulk has resulted in a net overall gain to my backpacking experience. There simply is no one-size-fits-all choice of tents, despite your suggestion to the contrary.

Love Nemo everything! lol I have the Nemo Firefly! It’s the best! Super lightweight and very roomy! It’s labeled as a 2person tent but it’s too small for two people…basically a 1 1/2 person tent and I love that! Not too big but not too small! Had it for probably 3 years now and I camp all the time! 4th of July weekend I took it to the Badlands and it withstood one epic ass storm that I made a video of! 😂 anyways, love this video man 😎

Can anyone right how much all this stuff cost? Just to give me an idea..
@JonConti
@JonConti 5 күн бұрын
Honestly a s*** ton. The initial investment in your backpacking gear is probably gonna cost you between $1500-$3000. My philosophy on gear is is to buy "above average." Not the most expensive stuff because the difference between a $500 and a $1000 tent is so minimal. But not the cheap stuff either because A) it will break down and you'll just spend more money. B) You will have a less enjoyable experience and possibly give up the hobby. If you can borrow gear first to see if you like the activity, that would be ideal. You can buy super cheap first (like I did), but if you stick with it you'll quickly realize the necessity for better gear and you'll have to make a second purchase. No pressure in buying gear, do what feels right for you. I will say I've been using this gear for over 3 years now and none of it has needed replaced and I don't see myself buying any new gear in the near future. If you buy quality gear in the beginning it will sting in the short term, but after that you'll be set for years.

Some friends & I made it up to RAZZ LAKE which I have yet to see mentioned when discussing lakes in the Eagle Cap wilderness. There was no trail to it off the switchback route we had taken west up from the primary trail but at that time (1972) there was a tiny sign attached to a tree on the right along the switchback trail directing one uphill to RAZZ LAKE. Actually our map & compass were what were more useful but the sign on the tree helped. Heading uphill we got to the lake in about 15-20 minutes. Nice spot with no other campers there at all. May look for it again sometime. I also learned just now that there are more than one Razz lakes & the one we were at is now, apparently easier to find than in 1972. My directions to the Razz lake we were at, I realize are not so clear but after 52 years it’s the best my memory can manage. Sorry! Climbing up the ridge on the north side of Razz lake I had a view of the Matterhorn which we scrambled up a few days later. I had thought it was the highest peak in the Wallowas but just read that Sacajawea peak is a few feet higher. Both are close to 10,000 feet.

They are. They're cool. They definitely stay on your face and they don't give you that headache other sunglasses give you from pressing on your temples. Eh. Nice.. however how can it be 100s of years of history. We aren't in Britain. And idk if the native Americans grew wine/grapes there also. I know theres apple trees and other fruit trees that can grow naturally but most are planted. Its like saying a meadow is a cornfield.. im born from Idaho actually. Glad I left heh.

Well Idaho's been a state for 130 years and seeing as agriculture has always been it's main economic driver and that the city of Boise is only 45 minutes away and was founded over 150 years ago, I'd guess there were farmers in the most fertile part of the state back then.

@@JonConti I wonder why native land had to be protected to begin with. They knew this would happen one day. That's why I think we are truly lucky to have our national forests. And literally gov was making y'all plant grass because there wasn't enough it was turning into desert.(Which Britain is doing right now to introduce moss and more trees to bring back their rainforest they cut down grass gives the trees something to hold onto). the Idaho falls highway to salt lake has changed so much since I was little. It is better.... But still no trees being planted it's just farm land still. I just remember seeing where the land touched by man left and begins.
