I agree a lot with this, when you talked about blade shape my mind went to the vulp and i have been flipping it about 9 months and a lot of people say it looks real at first glance but they realize afterwords. I think it also depends if live blades are legal too because flipping in cali people are a bit sceptical but if you go to idaho or where they are legal then they are chill and for me they say "What?! it's not real? Bummer man." But very helpful vid too!

(Mint) My Canyon has held up very well aside from it getting decent play, but I've noticed zero slap and not much tap either. One thing I did notice with mine is that the finish is almost scratching off in a way, but I think it adds a bit of personality to it.

Can you give an example of a Bali with severe handle bias? Vs one with heavy blade bias? I’m kinda new to flipping and also kinda enjoy the idea of making a Bali at some point, so I’m trying to acquaint myself with the different feels/balances. Anyways, thx for the vid, super interesting topic 👍
@jakeflipsbalisongs10 күн бұрын
So for super handle bias just think anything from amazon that is 100% stainless steel and costs less than $10 and for blade bias you would look at something like the plastic carrot balisong

The sunjectivity in this hobby is wild. I tend to see videomakers always more advanced than me, but it isn't that discouraging when I know I can reach such a level. The one thing that got me hooked to the hobby is the dopamine after hitiing my first rollovers, so after all, I seek that improvement but I try to get my daily fun fidgeting times, and I do agree it's likely to be undervalued, and imporant to remember. Cool vid btw.

I'm of a fan of the Morse compared to the Vulp because I had to wait a whole month for my Vulp to get sent from the Nabalis website when I should have ordered it from Amazon like I did with the Morse. It's not bad for a 60 dollar balisong but the alternatives are getting better and the best thing about my Vulp right now is the spare hardware had the same size bushings as an AS Rep clone I got so I tried tuning that up for the first time.
@Rd0g319 күн бұрын
personally a fan of kpl heavy but ive never tried carbon honey. also got the false edge vulp pro and was surprised by how nasty that tip is. i was planning to put an edge on it and use it as an edc but the blade steel is kinda crap and i dont feel like using an edc that i would have to oil everytime i use it to avoid corrosion

If it's different material than wouldn't it not technically be a clone
@jakeflipsbalisongs19 күн бұрын
I suppose it’s possible to think of it that way but most people that don’t support clones do so because of intellectual property theft which refers more to the design and aesthetic of the balisong rather than its materials

I'd say the Vulp still has a solid place in the balisong hobby. When I think of the Vulp, I don't think of it as a standalone balisong, but a full starter pack that truly gives you everything you need in the box to get started with the flipping journey. While I very much prefer the Canyon, and eagerly await my Extrusion; the Vulp is arguably the all-round best budget (standard) balisong on the market imo. Most of the budget adjacent offerings of other manufacturers have some quirkiness that sways the overall potential of what they can do that kind of trades a problem with the Vulp. The Flytanium Zenith Trainer has sufficient grip, but it runs on inferior T8 hardware and has a strange balance due to the handles. Marcolo is too slippery, and arguably cheaper made than Nabalis in general. The Squiddy AL is a bit pricey for its novelty, not to mention that it runs on washers as well as being Pinsless. Even the Nabalis Canyon has its quirks due to its deceptive heft, and strange balance. The Vulp strikes a cord of hitting every needed note a flipper would want in order to get started with no holds barred. Yeah, the Vulp is terrible at chaplins, has a wonky handle bias, has terrible grip, has gone through all the washers I've got, and is easily outgrown. But you know what? I still love this hunk of condensed soda cans and it did its job of getting me back into the hobby. Bottle opener is nifty, colors are fun, and it's always available cause of the land of Bezos. It's a no brainer gift for that someone who's willing to give the hobby a go. I'm still begging Will to potentially address the chaplins in an updated Vulp V2 or newer flipper under a Benjamin. The Vulp pro is nice, but I'm way more interested to see iterations and innovations done to the budget balisong category instead of paying for its maximum potential.

Have both and like the false live more. Yes it also a little heavy for my taste. The trainer version is a bit lass heavy but it has more handle bias that actually feels more intense because of the very end weighted handles and also makes it feel more sluggish. Still like especially the FL and don’t think it’s the worst that it feels different to my other Balis.
@woomygfxАй бұрын
I have the trainer, im pretty new to the hobby so the only 2 "good" balisongs i own is the nabalis canyon trainer and the vulp pro, used to flip only the canyon and it was amazing, but after switching to the vulp pro, flipping the canyon became really hard for me... After a while flipping it i get lots of hand pain and pain in my fingers. But like everyone is saying, for 40$? With lube and locktite? and all the necessary for repairs? wow.
