Great discussion. Only point of concern. The subtitles are shown for only a couple of seconds-too short to read.

There are sometimes trains in his paintings cause his father worked at a train station. Nothing in his work is there from luck. As about his mother all those cloth covered heads... So sad. I like his work

How this guy ever became known as a great painter would be a great mystery if I didn't know the answer. The art community owned them and artificially raised their values in order to get rich through selling them. They are nothing more then average.

I'll say it; Bernini made a mistake by using his own face in concentration on sculpting. Bernini did an exceptional job, which is the problem. If Bernini's David was truly an action shot just before throwing, it would instinctively scare you, but his face isn't contorted by the action of throwing, it's in a more standing concentration. We know that now because of slow-mo footage but back when this was made he wouldn't have had any easy way of seeing it.

My how times have changed! I wonder if these fashion ladies would embrace the nearly naked clothing of today’s runways and red carpets.

Cafe Terrace at Night is probably my favorite painting. Very interesting that Hopper used it as inspiration for Nighthawks but does something so similar yet so completely different and melancholic

This video is made of love of Van Gogh. I had just visited the resting place and birthplace of Van Gogh and the Van Gogh Museum. The more you know him the more you love him. You always feel like crying for his suffering.

OMG. Goya did not paint in the dark and candle-hats were common back then. 12 year old boys wore 'em in coal mines. I always end up asking myself if people are stupid or just lazy.

Saturn devouring is a fine representation of modern liberal elites. High in power and capable of atrocities beyond imagination. fueled by greed and lonesome, aging and time for sake of living.

It seems the cubists were also fools based on this video. And thank you for bringing it to my attention. The idea was interesting, and I liked it, but not only they lied but deceived. The cubist work has dimensions too. Picasso was an arrogant Spanish artifice in most cases. © Metaphysician & Philosopher

Love your channel! I use your videos as a springboard for a deep dive into the particular artists I admire, but it seems you don't cite your sources. Wherever you get your info would be a great starting point. Is Is there a place where you list your sources? Am I missing it? I don't see them at the end of the video. Thanks!

3 Empires eh? Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman. How exactly Roman Empire was different from the Byzantine Empire? Can you elaborate on that with your vast historical knowledge?
@GreatArtExplained
@GreatArtExplained 6 күн бұрын
Sure - Its debatable whether you can separate the Roman and Byzantine Empires into two distinct and different entities, but many historians do. The art, the architecture, the religion, the language, the literature and the philosophy is so different. Of course Rome birthed Byzantium and there is no exact date where one became the other but I think it is right to make the distinction. Thanks for the question 🙏
@buraktoksoy3132
@buraktoksoy3132 6 күн бұрын
@GreatArtExplained The term 'Byzantium' was coined in much later periods of time by some historian unimportant, and took its popularity from there for some reasons yet unclear and most probably includes different motives. Yet differences between these two names are too great to ignore as you stated, yet still, it's absolutely appaling calling one of them something entirely made up and it's a terrible misread of history if you ask me. Maybe the line still can be drawn by dividing them 'Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire."
