Reminds me of when during his comeback tour Tal Farlow said let’s do it moderately with a big smile on his face and then proceeded to play a tune at a ridiculously fast tempo.

Growing up my mother told me stories about singing with the Chris Gage Trio and the Ray Norris Quintet. Over Christmas I told a story at the table about watching a video of Oscar Peterson demonstrating his incredible prowess. My 93 year old mother said " I remember someone saying Chris Gage was the only pianist Oscar Peterson feared. " That got me thinking about the level of the musicians that my mom fronted. These were some of the finest musicians Canada has ever produced. Fraser McPherson is the only one to have survived past the age of 50. My mother is the sole survivor of this collection of incredible talent. In her photo album is a note from Chris that talks about them Garnering together. My mother would often ask Chris if he would 'Garner' a song, referring to the unique piano stylings of Errol Garner. Chris would lovingly oblige. He was That good!

What makes gil noble such a great jazz interviewer, he's a jazz fan that is knowledgeable and respectful to the music, and those who played it. Jackie McLean was a true giant.

Modern day MLB players should embrace this concept instead of going through the usual pattycake nonsense whenever benches and bullpens clear. Such incidents should be exceptionally rare, and should resemble the fight scene in Anchorman.

This is the hippest documentary on jazz that I have ever seen. Back around 1978 I was a delivery driver in Los Angeles and Jackie was playing at Shelley’s Man Hole in Hollywood and I could not afford to pay to get in so I stood outside and put my ear to the door and looked in the widow and listened to Jackie. He was in his 50’s at that time and he sounded great and I wanted to wait outside when he would leave the club but I was tired and I I had a long drive home so I split but Jackie will always be one of my favorite jazz musicians

Absolutely essential viewing for anyone interested in jazz improvisation. Jackie McLean is a legend of this music, still relevant today. I agree with him that "jazz" is a terrible name for this music.

Great interview by Gil Nobel, who I had no idea watching on Channel 7 News as a reporter was a jazz musician and knew, and grew up with a legend. Jackie McLean. Damn....I wish I had known then.

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. I have been seeing that most of our ruling party leaders are just talking about kleptokracy and sakau, but no serious action is taken. The old venomous political snake is still at large, silently forming teams to overthrow the present clean government. Why are we still leaving him scot-free to cause more damage to our clean government? Many are talking and talking until the cows come back home. Be like Singapore and China. Take immediate action and make our Golden Chersonese a progressive nation again. Don't delay anymore. You are only left with four years to prove your worth. The nation is getting bored listening to the same old story repeatedly without much action being taken immediately. The public is already getting restless, and they may switch camps if delayed further. Remember, procrastination is the thief of time for the political scoundrels to escape from their piled-up cases. They will shoot us before we put them in prison. Why the delay, and what is the hidden agenda? Please know yourself, politicians! Action speaks louder than words. It does not matter how long you rule the government; what matters is how effectively and efficiently you rule the present government. Harap maklum.

I was born and raised in Denmark, grew up about 30 miles south of Copenhagen, my friends and I would take the train or bus into Copenhagen to go to Montmatre. I went to a boarding school (Osted Efterskole) outside of Roskilde when I was 16, Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen's dad was the head master, almost the whole family was musical. His mother and sister played the organ in church, his older brother Helge was a jazz musician as well, but NHOP became an international musician. When Niels Henning started to play in Montmatre, he was not old enough to drive (in Denmark you have to be 18) I think he was only 15, thus he had to take a taxi home, there were no buses or trains that late at night. Supposedly he got an offer to play with Count Basie when he was 15, but his parents said no, he had to stay in Denmark and finish school. In any case he did very well for himself.

Thanks. That is an incredible thing. And according to this video my guess would be that he was either first call or the house bass player at this club in Copenhagen when he was only 16 that is an incredible thing

I started to take the bus or train to Copenhagen in 1963 with friends to listen to Dexter Gordon who was living in Denmark at that time and a stable in club Montmatre, Niels Henning often play with Dexter he would have been 17 then.

@ShadowAngel-lt8nw Жыл бұрын
Wrong. They do. This specific scene actually led to countless tests. They can work under water as long as the bullets are water tight. The gun doesn't care about being submerged. The rest is basically like a torpedo, underwater rocket or a underwater mine. The main reason why guns shouldn't be submerged in water is the shoddy build quality of most modern guns, wether's it's the M1, M16, that's why the AK47 (a copy of the german StG44) is such a hit with terrorists, the gun works everywhere, it's the simple design t hat keeps it working, unlike the overengineered guns past 1950.
