I have the Atrak 70 and s7 at home while using the s11 at some of the venues I play at. I love the Rane build quality but the FXs leave a lot to be desired compare to Pioneer FXs.

I heard stem eq isn’t possible with the S11 because the eq block can’t be bypassed. :(

Bro what do you mean by "eq block"? Isn't it just midi signals going from the mixer to the computer/software? How come you can see the waveform change in Serato DJ Pro when you use the EQs on the S11? Use that same algorithm or data stream to make Stem EQ! work for the unit no?

@@GODInTheWax444in an electrical block diagram, the block is composed of the components for a given subsystem (e.g. EQ). Drew Bach from Alpha Theta says: “…it isn’t possible. The hardware of the S11 does not allow for bypass of the EQ block.” I take this to mean that the behavior can’t be overridden. I don’t know the specifics of the implementation, just passing along what was said by someone who works for Alpha Theta.

Just to add to what @DJColdswitch has said...the mixer is meant to operate purely as a hardware mixer...the software sends the music to it to be EQd and output by the hardware directly. Even though the knobs probably send MIDI (probably to show visual feedback in software but nothing more) they still do EQ - if they were to apply stems at the software level, the hardware would also EQ the result and that is not what you want. If the software had direct control of sending to the master output, then it could bypass the EQ and send only what it does, which is what you want (the DDJ Rev 5 has this ability, and that's why they did it there).

I would note though, Rane has found a way to switch off the hardware EQ in their Rane Four (via their latest firmware update) and Rane Performer (Shift + PFL) while still maintaining control of the master output by the hardware, so I wonder if it actually might be possible somehow for the DJM S11

@@djvinyltouch4027thank you for those details. Your explanation aligns with what I’m seeing in Virtual DJ. When attempting to use the stem eq in Virtual DJ with the S11, I get a warning that says, “YOUR MIXER WILL ADD ITS OWN EQ ON TOP OF VIRTUAL DJ’S. In order to use Virtual DJ’s advanced EQs, you must either use a compatible midi mixer or send the audio from Virtual DJ to your sound system without going through your mixer.” Fingers crossed for a firmware update that somehow makes this possible.

I had the 70 and then moved to the 72 mkII. Worth every cent of the cost difference. The screen is great - I think most peoples issues with the screen is the refresh rate - just bump it up in Serato and boom - no issues.

Hi, nice , i got the 72 (i found it very cheap) but at the end i sold it. The crossfader was not that good and it was too "compressed" (i mean the controls). The screen wasnt that great also. I think the 70 is better and more straight to the point :). Like always, good video man!

Yeah I've heard the screen on the Rane 72 doesn't have the best refresh rate. I think it was a bit before the tech "got there". Did you have the MK1 or MK2 version? What mixer are you using now? Thanks for commenting and peace bro...

Unfortunately Alpha Theta/Pioneer does not like to give us any new features after we purchase their product. Only Denon continues to give us improvements and new features. We buy Pioneer because we expect to get a rock solid product but I think it's time for Alpha Theta to upgrade their software engineering staff and improve the value to its customers.

Welcome to Pioneer Dj . Why would they update it when they can sell you a new one ? The midi fx on the S7 would be doable in the S11 as well . But they wouldn’t. People asked for Rev 7 rekordbox support at the beginning the said not possible . But then they finally caved . Why cant the DDJ 800 run Serato . Pioneer Dj is a make club standard gear and the know you will still buy it and media rental houses will shell out the big bucks . I have alot of pioneer dj gear including the DJM V10 top of the range but still i find Alpha Theta to be a bad and greedy company . I also own the Mixstream Pro Go as my back . I use it more often these days . I owned the S9

Best Serato mixer with a touch screen is easily the Rane 72. I have the S11 and the 72, and the S11 sits on a shelf. It is built cheaply and sounds awful.

You're entitled to your opinion. I'd disagree though. The S11 has a better refresh rate on the screen, and it has audio chipsets from the 900NXS mixer. Far from "sounds awful". To each his own though.

I have both s11 and 72mk2. Faders and knobs are better on rane. S11 has 4 decks, rane feels more premium, the effects on s11 are way better and the sound card is actually better than the 72 and the 900nexus2

You want to use the Denon Engine software on your Mac or PC to analyze songs and create playlists to go on a SD Card or USB drive.

I have the same controller as great as it is the speaker sound design seems like they didnt do a redesign from the previous mixstream. I had mines for 2 months until my right speaker sounded blown. For 800 I expected better and not all the technology going towards the engine software and battery . Luckily i got monitors so its no big deal and if your djing in the house they sound decent. Wouldn’t recommend using this for a gig just off the standalone. But overall a great controller and conversation piece whenever people see it.

I hear you bro, but it sounds like you got a defective unit, or you drove the speakers too hard too soon. You can blow out KRK monitors if you turn them up too loud with the right music. Same thing with Pioneer's . I turn mine up but i don't need it blaringly loud. If you didn't turn it up that loud, like I said, it may just be defective. I've had mine for a good long while now and the speakers sound just as good now as they did the day I got them. I would have returned it if it was only two months to get a new one.

I don’t think that’s why I am getting the drift on mine. When I’m doing juggles or doubles type things I can see my phase remotes start blinking like they’re recalibrating. Have you seen that at all? And yeah phase shd def let you be able to change the channel for if you’re playing out

If the remotes are blinking while you're playing, you may need to reset the receiver and remotes in Phase. Or maybe even reflash the firmware on them. That definitely shouldn't be happening.

Bro, I just got Denon sc live 4 and amazon music unlimited. Do you know if it’s possible for me to play 1 song from Amazon streaming and mix in another song from my usb stick or from iPod via Bluetooth?? Or when using amazon music, I can only play songs from Amazon on both decks? Or no, I can play an mp3 off usb and amazon track? Thanks in advance.

Hey brother, yeah you can do that. Just load the Amazon track onto either deck, then hit the back button on your device to go back to the main browse screen. Go to "Source" at the top, and choose your USB or SD card. From Just load the other song and you're good. It won't remove the Amazon track from the deck. I just tested it. I was playing the track though from Amazon then loaded a track from my SD Card. Good luck!

I just update my OG Mixstream Pro. The crossfader echo out works with the bluetooth when you activate it. just make sure you use either channel 1 or 2 not the main out.

I'm fine with the mixstrem pro go, but unfortunately the left speaker is broken and is distorting... even though I've never used the maximum volume. I think it's a design flaw, because if you listen to tracks with powerful bass and using the effects...sooner or later I think it's normal for the speaker to break...

Mine is still going strong for what its worth. Perhaps you got a bad unit? My DJM-S11 has a right side FX paddle where the LED has gone out on it. I don't think all S11s have bad right FX paddle LEDs, just mine does. I'm sure someone else's went out too, but theres a crap ton of people who have both LEDs working fine....

Yeah stems will be dope in Denon Engine. I like using Amazon Unlimited as that service has a TON of music. I'm going to loan this to my brother for a while in hopes that it convinces him to buy one for himself...

Can you route stems (instruments) to different outputs to create spacial audio? Like 3D similar to Atmos? Say vocals to a center speaker, drums and melody to LR, reverb and other harmony or percussion to rear LR and ceiling?

If I'm not completely mistaken, your turntables are the legendary SynQ X-Trm1!! I used to DJ with them, waaaaay back in the days, but now I only kept one of them as my home record player in my living room. Amazing player from the grand Super-OEM era and exceptional value for money - even when compared to the GOAT Technics 1200. Plus, they are STILL available at some online retailers to this day!!

These are Audio Technica 1240USBXPs. The Reloop 6000s looked like this as well. As you said, it's just the basic Hanpin style but AT made some minor alterations to the form factor.

A Hanpin OEM on "steroids", since it offered USB connection to record via Audacity, in addition to the standard layout. Man, and that Reloop 6000 in its all-white chassis... Nah you gotta sample those joints in. I returned the KO 2 though bro. The main out stopped working and I feel like that joint is made so shoddy and cheap its not worth the money in the end. EVENTUALLY, something is going to fail on it. Get a 404 mk2 or a MPC Live 2 if you can. Save up more or get that ish on credit bro. L8r

sorry to be pedantic...... but the Shure M44-7 were 9.5mv where as the Jico N447 are only 8.0 mv so how can they sound the same..... its not possible when Shure are 9.5mv, not 8.0 mv

I think you put too much stake into the mV rating of carts. Look up your turntables specs and see how many mV the phono portion puts out. You'll be surprised its not that much and the cart doesn't even take full advantage of it. Besides, that only has to do with the loudness anyway. Not the expressiveness and nuances of the sound. That's what the JICO is good and better at....

Have you tryed using rekordbox with the flux since you have the pioneer Xp2 to unlock the rekordbox dvs, it would be awesome to see a video to let us know how it interfaces with other softwares other then serato.

Rekordbox is not going to work with the Reloop Flux. It's not designed in that manner. It's only going to work with Serato DJ Pro, and maybe Virtual DJ and Djay Pro. Virtual DJ and DJay Pro allow 3rd party hardware to work with their software and design it as such. Rekordbox is more of a closed ecosystem if you will....

Very cool bro! Yeah the Mixstream Pro Go is pretty sick! I love it! It's a lot of fun to just pull out and play with (pause) when you don't want to get on your full setup. Denon is constantly updating the operating system with new features, FX, and other little tidbits that are useful. I still haven't fully fleshed out the library management features of Prime OS and I am going to look into it this weekend. Anyway L8r bro!

What's up fam. Thanks for commenting. I fixed the issue with the auto-bpm detection. I can't recall the settings I used right now, but I did get it working better. I agree, I'd like to see more FX on the unit as well. Some of the ones from the 900NXS miser would be cool as well. Peace and have a Happy New Year bro!
