Turned on HBO one night just at the start of Warning. I was like "Hmmm..What's this?" as the beginning slow zoom drew me in. By the time they reached the harmonies on "heinous realm that it squats" I was a fan for life. Long live the D.

Its easy to be distracted by the comedy but this song actually fn rocks. That little feathering thing they do with the guitar at 1:10 ( i dont know what the actuall term is) is undeniable . lovely little nuance .

A simple slow up-strum. A VERY simple tool in a guitarists bag that can make big a big musical impact. Probably one of the more famous up-strums like this can be heard several times throughout the song "Breathe" by Pink Floyd when Gilmour does this to create intrigue and tension.

This is favorite of all the hbo songs. Don't know why. Maybe because there's no story for it, its like an extra treat they knew they couldn't leave out.. And the melody here is fantastic in the beginning.

Tenacious D in the early days was the best, KG's harmony vocals are signature D. in the later albums the harmony vocals kind of died off and it was just JB belting, which is fine, but the harmony vocals really give the D their signature sound imo. the performances from the hbo series, and the first album are the best. I still have special places in my heart for TPoD and Rize though :)

This is honestly probably the funniest song I've ever heard in my life, not to mention they harmonize really well, more than people give them credit for. The song can be summed up as "Something terrible is coming, it's going to destroy you and everything else. I can't tell you what it is but it's definitely on its way and there's nothing you can do to stop it, so before it gets here, you should think about whatever sick, twisted fantasies you have and play them out before you die." And I'm just now thinking as I post this that it sounds a lot like they're singing about death, which is pretty deep when you think about it.

I like to think it was a reference to him jones and the peoples temple or whatever it was. That’s what he basically told all his followers. “They were all in grave danger, and he can’t tell them exactly what the impending doom is approaching them.”
