Hard decision but I think Ella wore it best. Did you reborn Ella she's so cute. If you did you did an outstanding job.

Can I use any other water or does it have to be distilled water for some reason it's hard to find it where I live. Thank you for explaining everything your channel is the best for explaining everything step by step. Thank you and God bless.
@lifewithsharonb51385 күн бұрын
I always recommend distilled water but if it's hard to find where you live then go ahead and use filtered water from your refrigerator if you have it. If not, just use tap water then.

What's the first thing that you put on the baby I'm wanting to get started with my first one and I just don't know where to begin. And if using acrylic paint do I need to bake the baby to make it stay? Thank you so much.
@lifewithsharonb513814 күн бұрын
The first thing is the flesh coat layer with distilled water & matte varnish to create a milky consistency. I use that same batch to create the color for blushing & creasing and mottling. You do not have to bake acrylic painted babies. Good luck to you!

Hi sweet Sharon……I know this is an old video….but I’m learning so much from you! I have a question…..if you mess up and need to strip an area, should you only strip the messed up part? Or strip the whole head?

Is there a specific ratio of paint/water/medium?
@lifewithsharonb513819 күн бұрын
The mix should look like a milky, semi-transparent consistency when brushed against a glass container. You will be able to tell if there is enough paint and medium if you get the color you want after about 3 layers of color on the vinyl, and I usually put at least 10 layers altogether beside the finishing layer of matte. It takes actual hands on experience to learn this - and you will!

What order do you paint your babies? Is it skin tone, vaining,molting,undertones,creases?
@lifewithsharonb513822 күн бұрын
Skin tone, blushing & creases, veins, more skin tones, mottling, undertones, and more skin tones, followed by matte varnish. It takes many layers of all of these steps to achieve the desired color.

Although I am not myself involved in doll restoration or creation, I appreciate the artistry, skill and techniques taught here. Sharon, your tutorial style reminds me of Bob Ross: enjoyably serene, pleasant, fun, educational. You make it easy for a novice to this art form to understand the steps involved, and then to give it a try for themselves! Plus, with your pioneering use of acrylic on plastic, you have forged an easier and a less expensive medium for others to copy. If there was a star rating system for your tutorial I would award it 5 stars out of 5!!

I can't believe how great you made her look now! Especially the shag hair style which totally fits with the era in which she was made! I just got done reborning a baby and some of the matte got shiny in a few places. I took a dull thin emery board and sanded the shine off and it didn't hurt the paint or finish at all! Just a tip in case you ever reborn again and that happens to you!! Totally enjoyed this video, Sharon!🙂🦋🌞🌸

Some vinyl discolors to that orange color and the lips loose their color. You find the same with some Barbie dolls from the same time period. I find you did real well, she looks much closer to what she would have looked like new. I thought she looked familiar. My oldest daughter had a doll like this. Yes she came from Spain, we got her in Germany.

Hi Sharon. So nice to see you again. I truly hope you are doing well. I have exactly the same doll & I took her off that body & changed her eyes. My dolls eyes were gold! Anyway if you want to change her body you can order plugs. I got mine at MacPhersons, but I’m in Canada. Then you glue the plugs in the limbs with E600 & you leave a bit out & this will give you the ridge you need for the zip ties. Hope that helps 😊

How do you mix medium, water, paint for creasing? I'm sure it's thicker, but I ran into the problem where the creases dried with an outline which was faded in the inside. It was thick tho. Is there such thing as adding too much medium?
@lifewithsharonb5138Ай бұрын
Yes, there is such a thing as adding too much medium. The consistency of the mix should be a milky consistency that you can see when you brush it up on the side of the mixing bowl. I don't make the consistency thicker for creases, blushing, mottling, or details. I do make the consistency thicker for painting hair, and for tipping the nails. Hope this helps.
