Husker fans used to shun the B.C. years like he was a plague. Now, given enough hindsight, most fans recognize that Bill brought in some high quality recruits and was slowly putting together a successful program. Was he given enough time? Probably not. Say what you want about his staff's game management style, or coach-speak pressers....Bill knew how to organize a player evaluation and recruiting program. Not sure if he would have been able to adapt with so many changes in college football since the mid-2000s, but I think everyone can agree that he was organized in his program's structure and processes. After watching the Pelini firestorm...then Mike Riley's soft teams...then the Frost debacle...and now the Matt Rhule machine...Bill now seems a lot like Matt Rhule with a bit less humility. NFL back-office mentality. A well structured organization that was probably not given enough time. But, hey, that's college football... Can't wait for the Huskers to make some noise in 2024!!! GBR! ❤🌽🏈🔥🔥🔥

So crazy! Damn near every Husker starter on this team either went to the NFL or is in the Husker Hall of Fame. Majority are in the HoF and went to the NFL. Ahman Green had a 1k season as a Frosh and didn’t even start! Many of the 3rd stringers on this team were later incredible starters in 97 who won the NC and went to the league too!

Not really bc that just means the gap between the top 2 and the rest was perceived to be so large that no matter how badly NEB beat FLA, nobody had a hope of moving past FLA. And I absolutely believe NEB was EASILY the best team in the nation that year.

Nebraska post 1997.....when they used their elbows to take on helmets and get bursa sack eruptions of the elbows and fumbles galore. Who taught that technique? The nervous quivering lip of Fearless Franky on the sideline. I know Tom chewed a piece of gum until it was dead but these nervous coaches instilled zero confidence into their players. The boss was gone and so was the team. It slowly died on the vine. It's all smoke and mirrors now with the COMEBACK...........from 5 and 7 and a bunch of 3 star recruits. KState and KU must be juicing their 2 stars galore.........hint NCAA time for a random steroid check. Meanwhile good ole NU will under perform and everyone will be praising the purple and blue coaches like they are the best coaches ever.......doing more with less.......and juicing of course.

This just goes to show how insanely OP the 1995 Huskers were. This Florida team would have won the NC in an ordinary season (and most of them did go on to win the NC just a year later). The 95 Huskers would have done similar things to any hypothetical time-traveling "all time great" football team, including Husker teams from other seasons. One of their early season victories was a 50-10 road blowout of a Michigan State team coached by some guy named Nick Saban. The Huskers' depth was unbelievable, especially at running back. Despite losing Lawrence Phillips to suspension due to his criminal behavior, their bench was so deep that they didn't miss him that much on the field, as they had Clinton Childs, Damon Benning, James Sims and a true freshman named Ahman Green who ended up carrying most of the running back workload after Childs and Benning both got injured. While the star power was heavy all around for the Huskers, the real reason they were able to steamroll anyone they played and not only won all their games but won them overwhelmingly (they won every game by at least 14 points, were only outscored in a half of a game once...the second half of the K-State game due to the Wildcats scoring 3 TDs late once the game was already decided... and only trailed on three occasions the entire season, two of which were in the first quarter of this game) was because they were crushingly dominant in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Despite the fact that all but one of the starters from the NC winning 1994 O-line (nicknamed "The Pipeline") graduated and had to be replaced in 1995, the 95 line was actually BETTER! They gave up zero sacks on the season (though the fact that the Huskers of that era didn't pass nearly as often as most teams helped them accomplish that). The defensive line was just as terrifying for opposing teams, as the opponents' O-lines would get overwhelmed and shoved in all directions, opening gaps for linebackers like Terrell Farley and Jamel Williams to overwhelm the backs.

The old ball coach was hard headed going into this game and it was to late to repair that blitzing of Nebraska, one year later FSU def head man Micky A went to Nebraska to learn this def scheme and use it in 96, went 11-0 and beat Florida last game of the year. Florida stayed under center with their QB and changed to shotgun for the NT game in the rematch. Added a extra blocker and boom ball out quick and offense went for 52 pts. Old ball coach said after the game he should have done this for Nebraska, not saying he would have won the game but their offense would have had a chance to produce but he added our defense had no answer for Nebraska offense that was insane.

Terrell Farley excelled at confusing offensive linemen at where he went so fast and teaching opposing QBs what the field surface they were playing on tasted like... That said, there was one Husker who was on Nebraska's first two NC winning teams who was sick in multiple senses of the word. In the 1971 "Game of the Century" between #1 Nebraska and #2 Oklahoma, Nebraska's star receiver and eventual first Heisman winner Johnny Rodgers not only opened the scoring by running a punt back 72 yards for a TD to open the scoring, he also puked at the end of the play due to how hard he ran to get that score!

Look at how thick the legs are on these guys. NU hasn't had that in quite the while. Crouch doesn't count. I don't know how he won the Heisman but Newcombe could throw AND run. Not as good after the knee injury but I feel like Solich should have let Crouch cry baby back to Omaha and never looked back. Frazier or Frost wouldn't have coughed up the ball in a big game like Texas.........which would have been the 6th title for sure. The running backs were bulls in a china shop. All you had to do was yell boo and those uncoordinated gophy bastards would have fumbled or got shoe string tackled. Yet they were 220 plus lbs. Never understood that. I hope selfish Eric is happy. I remember Bobby passing to wingback Eric in open space and he ran for a TD, maybe against Iowa. Eric you could run but you couldn't pass to save your ass. After Bobby's knee injury he couldn't run as fast but he passed more accurately because of it. But yet you selfish Eric I have to be QB or I will die ruined another natty for NU football. You were tough I will give you that, but your selfishness ruined the streak. Rest with it.

If Kaiser had an ounce of coordination he would have grabbed the qb the first try. Same goes for all of these other guys that get faked out. Watch your film and know it's gonna happen. Slow down a half step and make sure you bring him down. Don't be a spaz. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Nebraska DEs over run on the outside and they are so retarded spazzed they practically butt helmets........away from everyone.

Dom had no help. The 94 line would have worn these fat asses down hard like they did Miami. Everybody just acted like they were the previous champions and they got lazy. Especially the linemen. That O linement class outside of Raiola were turds and should be ashamed to mention they went to Nebraska. They got man handled like little bitches every game. They all thought they were special and could just coast.

I recall working with a Florida fan who thought the Gators would slobber-knock Nebraska. I told him Weurful would be sacked at least seven times. Yep, that was the number at the end of the game. He claimed Nebraska couldn't run with the Florida receivers, I told him Weurful would need time to throw the ball. HAHA...that was funny. With the dominant defense, and the overpowering offense, Florida learned what it took to win a National Championship, not all "Fun and Gun," but a little balance. IMHO it was easily the most dominant championship game ever, considering when it was played. Finally, this Nebraska team is often selected as the greatest college football team ever.
