Fellow Alist AND Regal Unlimited member here. Living the bougie life! Hahaha. Here's my top 5 for the year so far (in no particular order) Dune: Part 2, Monkey Man, Civil War, Furiousa, Daddio.

Excellent list! I need to rent Civil War ASAP

I really enjoyed this movie. The only weird critique that is going to sound awful but the accent. I got so tired of hearing the Jodie Comer’s Bostonian accent like 30 minutes in. A weird critique but I would have been ok with less or just not doing the interview type thing to begin with.
@Tako10113 күн бұрын
Ngl I hadn’t seen the first two before going into this movie. Didn’t think I needed to since it was a prequel/spinoff. My main gripe with the film is that anytime you have a drove of the same monster/alien, that works so well as a single entity as a menacing presence in a film, immediately goes away when there is like 100 of them during the day. The xenomorph in Aliens work cause there is one alien but by the time you hit AVP they are no longer that scary.
@popcornforbreakfastpodcast7 күн бұрын
Agree completely. The monsters are not nearly as scary in this one.

I saw this as the Regal Mystery Movie, and i enjoyed it. But was not expecting it to be documentary style and it felt a bit slow at times. But the story definetly kept me interested throughout.

Glad I skipped mystery movie then! I finally had a free Monday and I was gonna go but I was almost certain it was going to be this and couldn’t justify going just to see it again.

A couple of things need to happen I think, and unfortunately it’ll need to be subscription based. If movie theater chains all implement and normalize a $20 a month subscription service for going to the theater the way AMC and Regal do, then more people will go to the movies. It’s clear it only works if it’s theater chain based (as we saw the ups and downs of movie pass), but it’s boggling how bad Regal and AMC are at advertising these. I will say something that is missing with those now is the ability to have family plans so kids can go. Parents aren’t going to want to pay $20 a month for each family member Another thought is studios having theater subscription services. So pay a certain amount a year to see all of the movies that studio is distributing (obviously would only work for larger studios). People struggle paying for things individually now, and that’s showing at the box office
@klwilson22Ай бұрын
FULLY agree that kids need to be allowed to get a subscription with AMC or Regal. It's baffling to me that can't be included even under a parent account at an added fee.
@klwilson22Ай бұрын
The most interesting thing to me is how many companies are exclusively on certain streaming platforms. Especially with companies like A24 signing deals to be exclusive to Max. It makes sense why streaming services would want that, but idk why studios would want to exclusively be on one platform, especially if that platform isn't as cash flow positive. (Not saying that's true about Max, I personally love Max)

Totally get it. I Def go into movies as a more casual fan, so it may be a fun "popcorn flick" I didn't hate bad boys 3 as much as either of you. I totally understand the plot is WILD, but that doesnt bother me when i go in wanting a fun film. But my guilty pleasure is all the fast and furious movies, soooo feel free to judge me! 😂🤣😂

Personally I thought the movie was mid. Its just hot horrible people doing stuff. Feel like people are overhyping the movie to a crazy degree. Great performances but weird choices with audio cues and cinematography. Maybe the director isn’t my type of movie maker so there is that. JMO

I was excited and looking forward to watch it after I saw its trailer a few months ago. However, its release in India has gotten delayed as it has caught up in some form of controversy and may have to get a few cuts by censors before it gets released here! Loved the entire discussion!

35:32 *Hanuman. I legit spent like an hour plus reading about this story and how to pronounce this deity’s name using the phonetic alphabet… all to replace the h with an r in the actual podcast. Just goes to show preparation is not a cure for stupidity 😂
@hessian17763 ай бұрын
@biggwigg93, if you ever get time, please research the epic, "Ramayana" 🙂. Hanuman plays a key role in there, and though the film just touches on one story about the beloved Monkey God who represents loyalty, courage, and strength (he could literally move mountains), you may also see that the film kind of plays out like the epic in parts. I am sure Mr. Patel did that by design, but to a wider/general audience it may go unnoticed. After all, like you said, this was his project and perhaps he interwove it, not so much for the audience, but for himself, a nod to his own heritage/culture. Just my observation while watching this awesome film, it is such a layered storyline, and masterfully balanced the raw beauty and ugliness of society - specifically India in this case, but this story could have taken place anywhere, the same social injustices exist in all parts of the world 😞.

I just saw the film in theaters, and I really regret that decision. I'm not sure it's even worth catching it streaming, but that's just my opinion. The nothing characters is spot on. I did like Patton's character but even Patton, someone I think is great, couldn't pull me in. There are bits in the film where I felt like the plot was hitting me over the head, scenes that didn't need to exist at all. Just terrible hand-holding that I did not need. Huge fan of Ghostbusters but this just didn't hit for me in any way.
