Many rituals in Islam is related to Rituals associated with Hinduism. For example, circumambulation is a common practice in both Hinduism and Islam. In Hinduism, it involves walking around a deity, murti (statue) or other sacred object clockwise, often 7 or 9 times. In Islam, circumambulation of the Kaaba is performed seven times, starting and ending at Hajar al-Aswad, the black stone embedded in the eastern corner of the Kaaba. Similarly, wearing the black hijab, a head covering similar to the Goonghat in Hinduism, has parallels in Islam. While veiling is a cultural practice in Hinduism, it has become a religious requirement in Islam. The concept of holy water, like zam zam in Islam, is similar to Hindu prasad, where prasad is distributed to devotees after puja. Both receive blessings and develop a sense of community. The act of facing the Kaaba during prayer in Islam is similar to idolatry in Hinduism. While God is believed to be omnipresent, focusing on the Kabbah during prayer reflects a form of idolatry. Circulating the Kaaba during the Hajj is a central ritual, similar to the role of idols in Hinduism. Although there are similarities between Islamic practices and Hinduism, it is important to respect and understand the nuances of each religion and culture. Respect and understanding of all religions and cultures is important to promote unity and peace.

And please don’t rush around while doing Tawaf and Saee. We really don’t have any train to catch nor is there any Hadith that says that Umrah should be done within half an hr or an hr. Take your time. You went to Makkah for this purpose only. Slow down and take your time. Nobody needs to rush. There is no rat race there but everybody acts like as if there is. Slow yourself down and the one next to you will also slow themselves down.

My suggestion is if you have people performing Umrah/Hajj for the first time please have couple of leaders assigned to lead them. Let’s say you have 10 people in your group who is doing Umrah for the first time. At least assign one leader for 3-4 people who is performing Umrah with them. I have seen Malaysian groups with tight ropes with much more people sticking together throughout their Umrah. I was even following one of their group leaders because I was like…I don’t know how to do this but looks like they do. So I’m going to follow them. I was not part of their group but I joined because there was someone leading them. So you guys should really do something like this and not completely abandon the ones who are doing the first time around. Know how many people in your group are going for the first time….after all they’re paying you and trusting you with this. Please don’t break their trust. Money and opportunities like this don’t come every day. And we trust you to lead us the right way. JazakAllah On my second Umrah I led 2 people doing their Umrah for the first time and I did not abandon them until we were done with Sa’ee. So basically the whole Umrah three of us did together. If I’m capable of it…then I’m sure your program can organize much better.
