I had a D17, I loved that tractor. It had a homemade/aftermarket 3 point hitch on it. Not sure what it was, but I cleared a lot of land with a Bush Hog. The Power Director hand clutch was perfect for dropping it back into low speed or even neutral when hitting heavy brush and popping back into high for lighter grass. The 3 point setup lost the traction booster, so I didn't plow with it.

Also you can use a socket and rachet to move the tensioner to remove the belt-put the socket on the bolt on the tensioner and its perfect to leverage the tendsioner pulley but as always be careful and use correct size socket

My 88 Runs OBD1…assume the 91 does too. Short the pins on the OBD1 connector and read the “Service Engine Soon” flashes (you can Google how to read the codes). That will give you an idea of where to look. I had all sorts of readings - ended up replacing plugs wires, distributor cap and rotor, coil, EGR valve, relays, etc. Finally, I got an OBD1 flashing sequence that pointed to the computer. The computer in mine (88..2.5L) is an aluminum box located under the dash, behind the glove compartment. It’s kind of a pain to get out, but you can…one screw hold it’s blacked underneath the dash. I found a replacement computer in a junkyard (you have to have the same serial number box). There is a strip cover held on with two screws. Remove that and you can get to the EPROM inside. Transfer the EPROM from your truck to the replacement computer. Then connect and reinstall the computer. Once I did that, my truck Rand trouble free…and still does. Good luck!!

rough idle might be the MAP senson -its the black item attahed to the front of air cleaner housing Also the Idle air control valve it is under the air cleaner it attaches with 2 screws i saw a video where you can clean the Idle Air Control Valve i guess you can clean it with brake cleaner (dont fill up the part cause it is electrical the point of the valve should be clean and clean the inside of housing being very careful be real careful when installing the IAC the screws are small place something under the area to catch the screws incase you drop them a white rag or whatever check other videos gather info hope you can sort out the problem but it does sound like the MAP sensor uh i just noticed this video was 13 years ago well im late

sometimes you can remove the tensioner and lubricate it around the mounting bolt and free up the rust -pb blaster or similar rust removal type spray and always lubricate new parts if they are high wear area -I always grease mounting bolts and the threads -clean the engine threads to and blow them out with air somehow

Thanks for viewing and commenting. I had to replace the hydro drive belt when I got it and battery. It runs and mows well. It has aggressive tires on the rear. It’s not the most powerful drive system. Some people expect it to be like a skidsteer or bulldozer and it’s not. I don’t have any problem mowing moderate hills but I use both controls in unison to make turns.

I had that same problem with the original blinker assembly. I couldnt get that clip on the outside to hold into the new grill. so i found that In between the 2 lights there is a tab, i drilled into and then into the back of the grill and used a couple zip ties to keep it tight. Kind of a cob job but it works and i didnt have to buy to buy a couple blinker assemblies. Before doing the zip tie thing i tried screwing with that springy tab by filing and using a screw but it would still pull out pretty easy. So out came the zip ties....lol

Hello. Thanks for viewing and commenting. The steel wool and furnace cement lasted about 2-3 months. It wasn’t my daily driver however. Drove it maybe 1-2 days during winter if snowing and when needed to pull a trailer. The patch cracked in two right over the hole. Top half stayed stuck to manifold and had to be chipped off. Bottom half was hanging by some of the steel wool.
