I have a lot of Tim Holtz products and the smallest Pansartax cubes (~15 cm or 6 in cube) is the solution I didn't know I was looking for. I have an aversion to tapered bins, so also got the medium and large sizes of Pansartax. I love them but they are able to flex a bit still, but otherwise they're perfect. :)

Watching videos like this is so fun and on the other hand a little toxic because… seeing all the fun colors makes me want to buy more paint. 😅 I set up a watercolor triad that is supposed to be a modified Zorn palette. This time with genuine Alizarin Crimson and Indian Yellow. I always wanted to know what the deal is with Alizarin Crimson and why so many people still use it. It’s a little treat for my upcoming birthday. 😊 Love your videos, Irit. ❤

I was really smiling to myself as I was watching your video! I'm always for more ideas to maximize the space I have. My WHOLE craft/sewing room is totally Ikea. Six of the low Alex units put together have created a great swing/craft table in the middle of my room. Give me so much storage underneath. have another tall one that has all my machine embroidery threads in it, and another low one for my printer, with all the related things in the drawers beneath it. I also have Kallax units for storing all my paper crafting items, both in the main part of the room and in the closet. What would crafters do without Ikea. 🤣

The Goldfaber markers are not lightfast. I've been in touch with Faber-Castell and asked and I did my own test too, and they fade away. It's a pity because they are lovely.

I was sure of it. For light-fast option I'd go with Albrecht Dürer. But these will be used in a sketchbook only so I'm not concerned. Thanks for sharing!

Love this video thank you for sharing. Do you have any videos to show the process of how you use soft pastels with the gelli plate like you showed in your sketch book?
@iritlandgraf15 күн бұрын
I actually made one for my membership, but I will do my best to also create one for KZfaq soon. It's a lovely technique, although honestly, not much to it! Draw with soft pastels (they do need to be VERY soft, Sennelier works, but some colors better than others, Jackson's too and I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I have) on the gelli plate. Then add acrylic paint OR matte medium and print. Alternatively, you can draw on paper with soft pastels, then apply paper to gelli plate- the pastels will transfer to the plate. Add acrylic paint and print! I tried to find a good tutorial on KZfaq, but seems like there's really a need for one ;)

Oh Irit, My Wife has been struggling with the options for colors and applications of those colors of non-archival mediums. I assume this is because Artists are expected to be mixing their colors and scrapbookers are storing their art inside of books away from the light! I have tried to get her interested in professional grade watercolors but getting that certain color right out of the tube just is not so easy. Even those 250+ offerings from like DanSmith are not even close. I am currently trying out the Rosa paints for her and trying to figure out how to mix some of her more favorite or most used colors. I am going to try her out on the Neocolor sticks 1&2, maybe they will do the trick? Have a lovely day!
@iritlandgraf18 күн бұрын
Interesting point! Color mixing is definitely more common in artist practice and less in the crafter, at least from my experience... A few years ago when watercolors were super popular in the craft industry many craft brands came out with tons of sets. Prima Marketing was one, Altenew, American crafts... Maybe look there? 🤔
@nancyloomis304618 күн бұрын
Hi Irit! Thanks for sharing all your fave beautiful colors! So soft and pretty and with what's going on in our world right now...I really need to look at a lot of soft & pretty! I have a lot of TH Distress Oxide stamp colors and other paper-crafting products from him. And since you mentioned him...and for those who aren't familiar, Tim Holtz Distress and Distress Oxide crafting color products (primarily stamp ink, but his gel crayons & much more) along with his Ideology embellishments and paper crafting products are likely some of the most popular, best and highest quality crafting products out there. I think one day, we may actually see some artist quality color products by Ranger, the company who produces the Distress line. TH also licenses his designs for dies to Sizzix and stamps to Stamper's Anonymous...and paper cutters and scissors to Tonic Studios, I think. I love fine art, and keep that at the top, but I love paper-crafting/mixed media too. Tim has been doing live shows on his YT channel almost every Saturday for some time to debut his new products, explain how to use them and show what his amazing designers do with them. For anyone who hasn't seen these videos, you really should check out his channel. They're really fun and often long, but very enjoyable to watch...even if you're not a paper crafter, I think you'll find them worthwhile to watch. (The holiday creations, that you will see in early fall for Halloween to Christmas are probably the most viewed...the makes are just fabulous.)
@iritlandgraf16 күн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed Nancy! Totally agree about TH. He's a joy to watch even if one's style is nothing like his. I wish Ranger made some artist grade materials, I think they could add to the art supplies world!

Hullo Irit, I wish you every success with your art club! Unfortunately I don't have the bandwidth for Joy Art Club right now, but I really hope you do a KZfaq video demoing what you're doing with soft pastel and the gelli plate! I got a gelli plate to try sealing pastels I'd done with sticks on paper; that doesn't work so great. (I saw someone do it with a thin layer of Pan Pastel and that works much better.) Are you drawing with pastel right on the plate? Then brayering acrylic medium over it?
@iritlandgraf18 күн бұрын
No worries! I understand ☺️ yes, I draw with the pastels first (you need very soft pastels) and then brayer acrylic paint or matte medium if you prefer transparent. Super fun!

I'm in the US and I made an order with Jackson's over the past couple of days. Initially, all items were in the Maine warehouse and shipping would have been 9 something, almost $10. Then I added an item that was only in the UK warehouse. In that case all items would then ship from the UK. The shipping from the UK would be $5.92. So about twice as far to ship will cost me half as much. Something to keep in mind when ordering from the US.

What's wild is that by playing "cart roulette" I can often get Jackson's shipping from their UK warehouse down to like a couple dollars and it can actually be more to send stuff from the US warehouse!! And there is no customs hassle in the US. I have been really into soft pastels! It's a whole thing!! So you ordered some recently? Edit: Just a warning, Diane Townsend pastels are super super fragile and you will have to be incredibly careful to get them back home intact. You were probably also wondering about Terry Ludwig pastels. They are good, not sure they are truly worth the price, but I did spring for some. Personally I have been loving Blue Earth, but those are the softest of the soft! But packed very well. But, Dakota Pastels in Washington State is the only place that carries them, so unless you're coming here to where I live, you won't be able to buy those in a store.
