Some things to note about diet: There are not laws for ferret food, so as long as they arent putting poison in there, food manufacturers and sellers can put whatever they want in there. Ferrets do not need vegetable fat or vegetable protein. They need animal fat and protein. Those should be listed FIRST on the ingredients when you look at the bag or box. CRUDE fat and CRUDE protein are a mix of vegetable and animal fat and protein, and because companies are trying to save money, that means its going to be MOSTLY vegetable fat and protein, which again, your ferret does not need. There are so few good manufactured ferret foods out there its kind of annoying. You'd actually do better to buy chicken and beef, and cook them and serve em to your ferret. Also you need to get a little tube or bottle of ferrotone and give them a bit once in a while.

the spikes can cause allergic reactions in some people. they don't have smell but they're not clean. you have to wash their feet when they tread on their poop on their wheel (and wash their wheel everyday). they are also not rodents.

Most people aren’t willing to provide an adult beardie with the full size enclosure they need, which is 120 gallons at a minimum. They also require more care than a leopard gecko, and tend to have more issues regarding care (feeding requirements, veterinary care) and can be very unforgiving for a beginner. A leopard gecko, on the other hand, requires a 20 gallon enclosure to be happy, and is an insectivore. They are FAR more forgiving than beardies. Is why I recommend leopard geckos over bearded dragons for the beginner reptile keeper.

Birds are not low maintenance. They require a lot of care and attention. You cannot leave them in a cage. Good for apartments, but only if you know that they are not low maintenance.

Hedgehogs have different personalities. Also depending on how young they are first handled consistently they tend to be more social and calmer around humans. However, they are still skiddish and require patience. In time, they will vibe with you and love the security and attention given.
