What people tend to overlook when judging the Chinese SKS' (not in this video!) is that 99% of Chinese SKS' in the US have all had long lifespans, sometimes having been used across multiple conflicts. After such a life, a rifle will not be in the same condition as a mint Russian or mint Yugo SKS. Another thing is that quality of Chinese SKS' depends entirely on who made it and when. Factory 26 produced rifles from the 1960's and late 50's are of the highest quality. Quality drops through the years due to manufacturing changes (milled to stamped parts) and in the 1970's drops drastically as China doesn't need the SKS themselves anymore and they're purely for export. At this same time, production is transferred to other factories that are way smaller in scale with way less qualified people and lower quality tools. 1950-1970's SKS' are military production/military export, 1980's and later are actual Norinco's. calling anything pre-1980 'Norinco' is inaccurate. source: myself, i am a historian on this specific topic and i am writing a book about it as i write this.

@@gnutzguy i even stated "not in this video" because it's obvious your specific SKS is mint. Where you live is otherwise irrelevant as well, anyone can import them anywhere, you'll still get the same SKS' other people will get as well. And when talking about the bakelite stock ones, I've yet to come across one of those that saw active service, they're very late production rifles. Those were made and put into long term storage right away.

1. we in canada dont use the word norinco much bcos they dont manufacture the sks. they do commission factories to manufacture for them. they are just exporter. 2. I know aesthetics have nothing to do with functionality, but am I the only one who thinks that these two versions of the SKS ( French tickler and jungle stock) are by far the best-looking ones? They seem like a much sleeker rifle overall. Personally I don't like the big blade bayonet on the russian version.

aesthetically and shipment speaking, french tickler is better than jungle stock but french tickler is a mid production factory 26 . the early production factory 26 (yup, blade, lol) are better but fewer were made and most were shipped to vietnam.

Quality? Hands down, the KV won. German engineering is not present in the GSG, lol. Ease of cleaning, neither, the KV can not disassemble the FCG and GSG has too many small screws, springs and washers. Reliable, with 22 needs good cleaning. GSG uses cheap springs in the mag and recoil but I think KV needs a longer receiver or move the bolt down. I can't stand the awkward loading the mag into the receiver. At the end it boiled down to fun pimping and value. GSG wins .
