Hopefully this offers some help and sleep. Depending on the cause of the sleep problems there are things which can help. If it is pain then addressing this will obviously help with sleep. If it is due to stress or anxiety, like worrying about things a lot during the day, or not being able to shut your mind up at night, then these would need to be addressed, and if you just have a worry mindset then learning to think differently will help. These stories are designed to help share therapeutic metaphors for addressing worry, anxiety and stress, but obviously don't replace one to one support. In my Slumberland Dream Journal (link in most of my video descriptions and on my website), I share evidence based things people can do to improve their sleep if they worry etc. Like writing down worries before bed and the potential solutions to them, or, once looked at maybe some of them you find aren't under your control etc or are an unhelpful perspective on something etc. Writing things you are grateful for etc. When working one to one with people I'll often suggest they stay awake if they aren't asleep within 15 minutes and go and either do something they need to do but are putting off, or go and do something like reading, but makes sure not to fall asleep. Once tired, go back to bed. If not asleep in 15 minutes then get up and stay awake for the rest of the night no matter how tired you get and then don't nap or sleep during the day and go to bed at your usual healthy time the next night. If you aren't asleep in 15 minutes, stay awake the whole night again, and again don't nap or sleep during the day and then go to bed at your normal healthy time, and do theirs each night you aren't asleep within 15 minutes. This should obviously be done with the guidance of a therapist, but is very effective. The main thing for what type of approach to use depends on the cause of the sleep problem. Obviously none of these suggestions work if it is biological, like a melatonin related issue, or physical, like sleep apnea. And these things are less effective if the sleep environment and sleep routines are poor, like if the bedroom is too hot or cold or too noisy or perhaps too quiet if you've moved to a quieter location, or if you are looking at screens until close to bedtime (say a couple of hours before bed), whether TV or mobile or computer etc, which is triggering the response to be awake, or if the bedroom isn't dark enough, or if your bedtime routine doesn't involve being relaxed before bed, whether this is winding down with a book or meditation or having a bath etc. Things like having a bath with well because they can change your body temperature. These ideas also don't work if the problem is sharing a bed and perhaps the partners movements or space in the bed are causing the problem, or the pillows or sheets etc are wrong, like pillows too soft or too firm or too many so your neck is at an uncomfortable angle etc. But a therapist would likely have already been through all this with you for you to be on meds and trying lots of different things. I hope that you find what works for you and gets some good nights sleep...

Dan, I have listened to you a good 5 nights a week for years now. You have been a place of peace and a blessing. Only thing I wish is that it was easier to find the magical stories. I much prefer them to the everyday relax ones. I've heard a caterpillar stories but maybe some stories from other bug perspectives. Maybe a firefly or ladybug. A chameleon would be cool. Wishing you much success.

The mental health and autism videos aren't stories. My The Tortoise channel is linked on my home page where it shows my other channels. It should show in a search for The Tortoise and then sorting to show channels with that name, rather than seeing everything where you might see videos about tortoises etc first. I've also shared some of the content in community posts on this channel

No, this is the same thumbnail I've used since uploading this in October last year. I had an old version available that needed some editing and removed that in October when I uploaded the remastered version... I am possibly going to be removing this though at some point as I am working with a KZfaq channel manager to try to help my channel start growing again so that I don't have to quit KZfaq and one big thing identified is that I still have some content on the channel that is hypnosis and meditation related and this is negatively impacting the channel because those videos are getting views. So I've been told to address this I need to remove those videos...

@DanJonesHypnosis this one is negativity impacting your channel? It is very good, I don't see how it could impact the channel.
@DanJonesHypnosis

@@janetdotson5133 because it's not a sleep story but gets views and subscribers and that influences where KZfaq recommends my stories and where it doesn't. It also means I end up with a higher percentage of subscribers who aren't subscribed to hear sleep stories which means when stories release and those subscribers don't watch the videos it reduces KZfaq showing them to others because it keeps trying to show the videos to the wrong audience and assumes people aren't interested in the content. This was the issue that led to my channel becoming a sleep stories channel, I wanted it to be an autism and mental health channel and the few stories I had were getting enough views to negatively impact the channel. I spoke to people from KZfaq and they said I would have to either delete the stories or lean in to the stories and delete the autism and mental health content. I tried to stick to autism and mental health for over a year without posting any stories, but people asked me not to delete the stories I had available so I kept them on my channel, but over time the problem got worse and so I eventually removed all my autism and mental health content, but have reshared done bits as people kept asking for them to be back on my channel, and, like this, over time I've posted the occasional thing to see if there is enough interest in it where I could get away with having a single more eclectic channel even if it goes against the way the KZfaq algorithms work. I mainly post this content to my mental health and autism focused channel 'The Tortoise' now and if there is enough interest on that channel I'll keep posting things there. I don't think this is on that channel yet, but if I move it from this channel that is where it will be moved to...

Thank you very much for your reply because that is why I seem to lean more to those channels. I know they help me but have never had a diagnosis exceptanxiety. They would have never known back when I was a child if there was anything. They called it hyperactive or not paying attention. All I know it is those stories that help me the most I am very grateful that there is someone out there that understands .

The story itself is the same loudness, but it was recorded 6 years ago and has been remastered, edited etc and I've attempted, like with all my other remastered stories, to make it as close sounding to my current recordings. This was the last of about 50 stories I've been remastering since 2019 that needed to be remastered, so all my stories from 2007-2018 have now been improved...

Most people want a black screen. I used to have something visible on screen, but people overwhelmingly want a black screen because anything on screen drains battery faster and generates light from the phone screen (I used to just comment that they could turn their phone over). Obviously as the user will have their eyes closed, once the video starts users aren't looking at the screen, they have their eyes closed to fall asleep, so no-one is paying attention to what is on screen. What I've noticed does make a difference is if there is about a minute of video at the start then since KZfaq has the autoplay function as you scroll through videos, the video being black reduces clicks, the video having relaxing graphics increases clocks. So I often have something in the first minute or so. But once people are watching, black screen keeps people watching much longer than having something on screen...

I’ve got chronic insomnia, have for years. Asmr does nothing, nor do any sleep med (works for a few months the craps out for some reason). Night terrors, sleep paralysis, sleep talking, sleep walking, it’s a nightmare (pun intended. If I don’t laugh at it then oh god). I never make it past 3 hours of this story. Been listening to this specific video for at least a year now, and I don’t know what happens after flying with the bird (I think? Even that is iffy). I can’t thank you enough even though this won’t be read. I can hold a job now. I can drive again. I can think clearly again. My depression isn’t unbeatable again. Im on a sleep med rotation (the few that do work but only for a few months at a time) but this has given me hope that one day, I won’t have to take those anymore. I won’t have to self medicate anymore. Maybe one day, I’ll take an average dose of melatonin and fall asleep. Thank you, truly.

Luckily the would be an unlikely situation. In therapy sessions you would normally just say to the person that the session is coming to an end and if they decide they want to remain as they are then there is a full few due every minute over their time, and they normally decide they would rather end their experience. In real life, hypnosis is just focusing attention, so there is no risk of being stuck in it, because there is nothing to get stuck in. In rare situations some people can fall asleep and so you just talk a bit louder to draw their attention back and wake them up. This normally only happens if the person is very sleep deprived. The more common thing is someone is so relaxed (assuming you've encouraged them to relax) that they want to remain in this comfortable state, like being so comfortable in the morning when you are dozing that you don't want to open your eyes and get up yet. You can do like I've mentioned, or tell them something like that they can take all the time they need over the next minute to wake up, so they can then do time distortion to have as long as is necessary for them be ready to wake up, but it will only be a minute of real world time...

His voice is so rhythmic. I don’t understand the part where he says listen to my words or the spaces between. How can you listen to Spaces between? Not criticizing just curious……
@DanJonesHypnosis
@DanJonesHypnosis 5 күн бұрын
I don't think I say to listen to the spaces between the words, but at the start of my stories I often say that I don't know whether you will drift deeper asleep to the sound of my voice or the spaces between my words'. The reason for this is that it presents to the listener the idea that they will fall asleep, the question is whether this will happen faster when I'm speaking or when I'm not speaking. Silence deepens the experience as it gives space for the listener to absorb themselves deeper in their own inner experience, so many people will find the silences help them drift asleep fastest, others find that it is my voice that they can follow that stops inner dialogue and helps them sleep. This is usually the only hypnotic sentence I include in my stories, where it focuses attention on the idea of falling asleep and offers some options for how this will happen while implying that it is inevitable - it doesn't matter whether it is to the sound of my voice or at the times I'm not talking that help you drift deeper asleep, the implication is you will be drifting asleep, it is just a matter of how...
