I can’t decide between AAR and logic of English foundations for my son with apraxia. Which is you first recommendation?

We are using Singapore 2022. We finished kindergarten and about to start 1st grade. I’m slightly disappointed but I’m going in anyways. I noticed that it’s a lot of repeat from the previous year at least from what I saw from the scope and sequence. He’s AUDHD. Maybe it’s a good thing but he hates repeating too often and hates too many games but loves a worksheet.

Hi which curriculum are you using for history for your ADHD and Autism child?
@HomeschoolShoppingChannel13 күн бұрын
Hello! My very next video (in editing now) I show you 4 history texts. For my autistic child we love quite a few histories. For my adhd we actually don't use one yet, however, Abeka grade 1 history and geography is short and sweet. Secular choice I love is Curiosity Chronicals. Also pretty short chapters. I would do it during breakfast (eating and sitting go well for him :)

We used Abeka Discovering God's World reader but it seemed to be too light for my high functioning AuDHD son, so we added MY PALS ARE HERE! Science 1 textbook and activity book. MY PALS ARE HERE! Science 1 was great and my son retained a lot of the topics that were covered. Will plan to continue with MY PALS ARE HERE! Science series (Tues & Thurs) and Apologia Astronomy (Mon & Wed).

It sounds like you were on the regular BJU Press website, you need to go to the homeschool specific site.

My AuDHD 10yr old I am realizing struggles with spiral like you were saying. He has been enjoying teaching textbooks but I am not sure he is mastering stuff. 🤔 Do you have any suggestions for that specifically?
@HomeschoolShoppingChannel28 күн бұрын
What you could try is something else to make sure they master addition, subtraction and multiplying etc are these drill books by JDA. The books are cheap and you can drill him orally, one page a day, or he can write the answers. www.jdalearning.com/amazon-books Scroll down the page to the one page a day books. THEY ARE AWESOME the way she set it up its impossible to not succeed in Memorization.

l really look forward to your videos also! l have been going back and forth between math with confidence and math u see alpha . My grandson has FASD,ASD,and ADHD and lm starting to worry that the deep understanding of MWC is eventually going to be too much for him. He looks like a deer in headlights when it comes to memorizing facts so lm leaning towards putting it down and only doing math u see. Too much going on in MWC for him to absorb so thought l should just stick to the facts. l was wondering if you would mind telling me why you chose Alpha bc l know you like MWC also.l appreciate that you always answer me and l love your videos. l am a fellow Canadian lol.

Thanks for reaching out! My son has ASD and dyspraxia and gisgraphia. I am going to try math u see alpha (he is 8) to see if I can get his basic math better. See if he can maybe understand it better. I saw a KZfaq short that said it was great for autistic children. Fingers 🤞 :) Glad to hear from a fellow Canuck!!

@@HomeschoolShoppingChannel My little guy is 9 and sounds like a similar problem. He just cant remember basic math. l just had his visual tracking checked and he has an issue.Glasses and therapy are in order. l have used all of the reading programs you have mentioned but l recently found out that it is very hard to learn phonics if your visual tracking is impaired. It was DR Halinga of Happy Cheetah who convinced me to get it checked.Very nice woman who is happy to speak with anyone.This program is differnt but fast and easy.You only do the writing part as much as your child can do in a few min. My point to all this is it is the only success we have had in reading. Dr halinga begged me to use math u see .She highly recommends it. Sorry for the long one but you never know if this mught help your son. Happy to share over here in Canuck ville lol

Thanks for doing a review on Layers of Learning! It is very hard to find one on it. At first, I thought I would like to try it for Ancient History but for curriculum creators that say they work very hard to create a very faith neutral curriculum, I didn't like that the samples used BC and AD, instead of BCE and CE. I studied history in uni, and I haven't used BC and AD since the 90s. And what you previewed here, BC and AD are used everywhere... I then thought I would like to try the geography cycle, but I have the same observation as you - it is more geared toward a middle schooler, with an elementary schooler tagging along. My kid is still very young, so I guess I will wait until he is upper elementary and his lil sis starts 1st grade. 🤷♀️ Other than those two things, I would love to give Layers of Learning a try. It seems rich in the list of resources they curated.
