I 100% agree with this explanation and I also agree that no one else explains it well. From my point of view I want the trainer on Max because in the real world I can’t get off during a ride to install a bigger cassette so that I can spin more on big hills. Since I have the same cassette on my trainer as on my wheel, Max will ensure that my cadence will be the same on a 10% hill indoors versus outdoors for a given level of effort (watts).

Max. I so happy to see you have added the Henry to your own super high quality items. I have been your customer for quite a few years. As for the Henry. I have been running one on my 2016 for a couple years+ now. The performance increase is amazing. The engine torque is amazing and more accessible with the Henry. The best trial for me was last year when we made a 7000+ mile ride to Alaska. And the bike was well loaded with gear. Passing trucks and slow vehicles is unchanged at standard highway speeds. However it's quite the thrill being able to shift down to even 3rd gear when aggressive passing is necessary!! Yaa Hoo! Presently i have installed 3 units. Two of them on friends Gen 5's. You did not mention the improved steel fill plug Henry has, other than the magnet. This plug will be hard for even the most ham handed home mechanic to strip the head off. Too bad he's not sell them alone. Fantastic review Max. Yes I'm yet another satisfied customer. Corventure Dave

My wife and I installed a Henry unit in our 2016 GW in Aug 2020 in our garage. 17% reduction in engine speed dramatically improves torque, making 1st and 2nd gears more useful and 5th gear is now a cruising gear, eliminating the need for a 6th gear. We used the recommended Dakota SIM-1A-GL speed recalibration unit to match speedometer to GPS speed. We love it and have had no problems with installation or performance over 4 years. Best improvement I’ve made on any of the 36 motorcycles I’ve had over 60+ years of riding. For two-up riding, we prefer the 2016 GW to both our 2018 GWTs, although we have logged 51,000 miles on east and west coasts, Baja and Canada on the 2018s.

How does making the final drive taller raise the amount of torque available at low RPM? That seems to be mechanically incorrect. The 17% reduction in engine speed is pretty freaking sweet, though.
@Traxxion3 күн бұрын
@@mustbetrue1602 Yes, I believe that is not an accurate statement... and on an technical level, the torque doesn't change at all. The engine makes the torque, and it is what it is.
@vukgrujic29573 күн бұрын
Great explanation, I would also add there is a preffered cadence for everyone, most of are in the middle about 80-90rpm, some guy spin 100rpm regulary, and then there are torque boys that do 60-65rpm al the time. But for most it is easier for knees, ligaments and tendons to spin more if they can, which also helps bloodflow and is more cardio based than muscle acid based. I'm planing to go for turbo trainer and zwift, and your suggestion seems best: Set it up so that you can have cadence on inclines as you would have in RL. For training purposes I might take it a notch down from time to time.

Would this disable the "learning" section that seems to need the dct reset every few months to regain some of the bikes smoothness?
@jftuvell3 күн бұрын
I flashed my ‘23 DCT Tour about 3 weeks ago. I’m very happy with the results. One of the things BT-Moto recommended (and provided the simple instructions on how to do it) was a DCT reset. I’m assuming they recommended it so that the bike would immediately be learning with the new engine characteristics. The bike was great before; it’s amazing now! Everything is better about smoothness, overall power and torque. Not to mention no speed limiter! I’d be very surprised if BT-Moto did anything to “dumb down” the DCT.
