Does it say on the shoes where they are made? On La Sportiva´s website they state that their products are made in italy, romania and china. But they are not specific on their product display page on where specific shoes are made. I dont want shoes made in china. We saw what happened to Salomon when they started manufacturing their shoes there, they didn´t even hold up 2 months.
@lifehiker

This particular shoe has a label inside with “Made in China”. On their website they claim: Our factories in Italy manufacture about 60% of our products. Factories in China and Vietnam manufacture 28% and 12% respectively.

Anyone looking for a vest would want to know about up front storage. Both sides. And options for carry. Side pockets - only for poles or water or other stuff. Storage on wings? Not enough detail
@lifehiker
@lifehiker 20 күн бұрын
@@Sharetheroad3333 thanks for the feedback. The front storage, as I mentioned could accommodate up to a Nalgene bottle in terms of capacity. The sides are suitable only for trekking poles.

What I meant by up front storage is, both sides of the pack. Some packs have a zip pocket on one side and nothing on the other. I missed the Nalgene bottle comment. Are you saying a 32 ounce Nalgene could go up front?
@lifehiker
@lifehiker 20 күн бұрын
- Timestamp 2:46: I mention the convenience of the side pockets, if one was zipped I would have definitely mentioned that. - Timestamp 3:02 I mention that I have been able to fit a Nalgene in the exterior pocket. One can infer I mean a 32 ounce bottle since that size is synonymous with the brand.
@Sharetheroad3333
@Sharetheroad3333 20 күн бұрын
@@lifehiker yes. Nalgene means 32 ounce to me. Hence the reason I was clarifying. If it was a 32 ounce, was that comfortable? When I was talking about zippers, I am referring to the storage up front (on my person front). Some packs have twin sides on the vest. Some vests are different on each side. That’s the detail I am trying to get.
@lifehiker
@lifehiker 20 күн бұрын
@@Sharetheroad3333it was comfortable in terms of the Nalgene fitting in the exterior pocket, the material is very stretchy. I usually use a hydration bladder with it rather than the bottle. One side of the front vest is zipped, the other side is not.

Solid review. Have a few questions I’m hoping you might be able to help me with. How is the sizing on these? I’ve La Sportiva run small so you should size up 1/2 to a full size depending on what you’re looking for. I have wide feet but Adidas ultraboost 21 and 22 size 14 fit great so I’m wondering if a 14.5 or 15 would be the way to go in the La Sportivas? Lastly, how is the sole holding up? I do a lot of running in the city I live in and the cement and asphalt is tearing up my Adidas runners so was thinking a more trail focused runner might hold up better on the rough surfaces. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
@lifehiker
@lifehiker 27 күн бұрын
@@MCFCTheMadHatter, I sized up half a size and that seemed to be enough room for me. As far as the sole, it still seems to be holding up. Although if you’re a city runner mainly, the robustness of the Raptors might be overkill. You might want to look at a lighter shoe even, like the new Prodigio which I hear is fairly wide now too.

Technically speaking, the Ultra Raptor don't have a rock guard but the well cushioned MEMlex EVA midsole and the EVA Enduranace Platform (on the non-GTX version only) make you feel as if there was a rock guard. I think the only La Sportiva long-distance running shoes having a sort of rock guard are the Jackal and Jackal II.

@@Labrador7, on their official site, they call it an “Endurance Platform EVA rock guard”. I suppose that could be misleading if it’s not actually a full rock guard. With all that said, I think it supplies some decent protection for longer hikes compared to other trail runner type shoes I’ve worn.

I compared the old AR jacket with the new revised heavyweight and I think Arc'teryx really went wrong here. The AR is better fitting and not sloppy fitting like the heavyweight. I also like the weight and feel of AR. Feels more premium. Arc'teryx best-selling jacket, the AR should have stayed the same. I was very disappointed in the heavyweight and returned it.
@lifehiker
@lifehiker 7 ай бұрын
Good comments. I think the fit is subjective as it varies person to person. Some will notice fit nuances/differences specific to their body type. For me, the fit is comfortable, while still allowing for layering, and still maintains a fairly tailored look. As far as the weight/feel of the AR being more premium, I have heard that feedback before. However with Arcteryx constantly making materials more efficient and continuing to innovate it’s hard to imagine they would deliberately make this jacket “less premium” even though it might feel that way. It could just be that the materials are now more efficient so they don’t have to feel as robust or bulky. At least that’s just my speculation.
