@@Sonoma_Coast it’s not that they’re rare, it’s that the LS totally outclasses any small block. I have a small block in my el Camino (for now) and also in the Monza. The novelty of them is cool but you can’t beat the performance and modernism of an LS.

11:00 the rockers are actually the same as 1.8 ratio LS7 rockers so they do have some value like the ignition coils. I am also building a Gen IV LS with a Gen V crank as they're basically the same as the 8 bolt forged LSA crank. Just need a 8 bolt flexplate/flywheel (unless dry sump LT1 Corvette crank).

@@racingdatasystems3708 I absolutely would but unfortunately there is no (easy) way to get it fired up on my runstand. We would need some LT1 to LS3 intake adapters, an LS3 carb intake (I only have cathedral), some LT1 headers or stock manifold+exhaust flanges, some LT1 motor mounts that are similar to the style I used for mounting LS’ on my stand, and most importantly I would have to figure out how to get the MSD box happy. The gen 4 and gen 5 motors have the same 4x/58x cam and crank signals but the sensors themselves are totally different. A few people have gotten it to work but it requires some ingenuity.

@@travisblack417 99% chance it will be “Syvecs” their ECU’s offer the ability to integrate with *any factory CAN bus. They recently released a LS specific ECU. They’ve been able to run direct injection for 6-7yrs now. They are a spinoff of Cosworth.

Man, this reminds me of Autoshop in HS. Lotsa fun figuring things out. That was the 70's though, so no electronics, injectors, ect. just carbs and disributers. Did you get your experience from being in a family that did car work? or all self taught or mentors? I think you had Autoshop in High school.

I almost bought one of these and then almost the newer one. I am doing a Ls3/6L90E swap in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I almost bought 1 but I wasn't sure if it was a headache. I was looking for a 6.0 when I came across a L94 6 2L block for $500. Si I dropped flat tops and turned it into a Ls3. My first swap but not my first engine.

If you’re planning on swapping the cam then the AFM motors are really good motors to look for. 99% of the time the lifter failures are what take the vehicles off the road in the first place. All of the “cheap” LS3’s I’ve seen for sale are totally internally destroyed.

Bay anything aluminum is around $2500 minimum…..and even the iron blocks if you can find them at the yards start at $1000…for a 4.8/5.3…..a 6.0 is gonna be like $1500…..but yeah an aluminum 6.0 around here is easily $3500…so yeah you hit the jackpot with that one bro!!!
