So good! Yeah, it’s really a matter of connections and if you’re opting in for slightly better conversion. I bet there are some used mkII out there, and some shops might even still keep them. The X is obviously easiest to grab a hold of. Best of luck🙌

Switched from RME. RME are boring and dull. Solid units but Totalmix and the attitudes on the forum was crap. Im so happy since switching, reliable with a cool design. It might have had issues over the years but it works well. Its more limited than the RME but for I need its great. I think some bought one had a few bad experienced but I have tried many other interfaces. The Twin is just solid now. I will add I use a DAC though. Its internal DAC is really good, but to step it up for mastering I do use a better DAC, but I could cope using the inbuilt one. I have the Twin X. The unison setup is fantastic, I have recored vocals that just need very little treatment.

@@marcosrotllan yeah, as I stated at the end in the video, anything actually goes. If price is a concern, there are far cheaper alternatives out there that’ll do the job. Still don’t know if i will use sidechan compression to duck my breaks kick or just use a low pass filter on the additional kick layer and a high pass filter on the drum breaks kick … because it’s smoother blending the 2 kicks together then removing one by ducking with the compressor. What’s your opinion about this topic
@subphoticАй бұрын
You could for example do some gentle side chaining, like a db or so of gain reduction, and still have enough of both worlds. A filter is more invading but can absolutely be the best solution as well
@subphoticАй бұрын
generally speaking of course😀
@stefan-apolloАй бұрын
I decided to use a dynamic EQ in the Drumbreak where the additional Kick and Snare Samples got Sidechained to duck the exact Frequencies where the Snare and Kick Samples are peaking. So it’s more a blending together of the Samples and not a complete ducking like the Compressor Sidechain would do. Also I put a Lowpassfilter on the Kick Sample at around 90Hz
@subphoticАй бұрын
@@stefan-apolloSounds like a good choice🤩

Do you chop up the drum loop or do you play it as a looped section ?
@subphoticАй бұрын
Yessir, I chop them up. If not for altering when the kick and snare hits to better match the other samples, it’s for increased flexibility when experimenting with bpm/ tempo and pitch. I know Ableton jas a smooth workaround for this with the stretch function in the Simpler, for example, but I guess I’m a bit old skool that way hehe. And this was made on the MPC and I can’t for the life of me wrap my head around the stretching on the mpc… Thanks for chiming in! Salute😀💯

Hey there, I would appreciate to see/hear how the final Beat turned out! I start mostly always with a Drumloop to get a groove first after that i am searching for samples, I mostly use Vinyls or the same KZfaq-Pirate Technic which you are explaining in your Video here. Then i get a few Variations from the Chops from other Parts of the same Sample. Lastly i create the Bass, and I love your approche witch the Sub Part Separation because i work exactly the same, only that i carve off already at 90 Hz from my "Texture-Bass" to have the Sub Bass underneath. I create my Subs with a great MIDI Instrument in Ableton, you should give it a try, it's in the Instrument Section and called: BASIC SUB SINE. Then i export from my ;MPC to Ableton and go for the Arrangement. I use a different Template in Ableton which has several routed Send Channels for each Group of Instrument, similar like your Mixing Template. I wanna try out your Template as soon as possible because the Mono Approach which you use seams very interesting to me. My Opinion about Sample Packs with 4 or 8 Bar Loops is that you can get easily 1 great Loop out of it but sometimes that's all and you are missing Hook, Intro and maybe a Bridge Part from those short 4 till 8 Bar Sample Pack Loops. So i definitely prefer a full sized Sample of 3-5 Minutes because you can get all the different parts out of it and since they are from the same song the all fit the same vibe and match perfectly. I was searching for hours and hours to combine different loops of sample packs to find out after all that they don't match the timbre also when you pitch them the same. I also Downloaded your Sample Pack and your Mixing Tips Document! I followed already so many KZfaqrs with 10000+ of followers to check out their style and watched their Videos for different Tips and Inspiration. But i have to say I am sooooo happy that i found your Channel these days, because your style, your work, flow your approach to make music in generell, your taste in Boom Bap. It's all the same here what i am trying to do. I try to produce 2-3 Beat Scatches a Week but I am still struggling to finish them. But I am positiv now after watching a few of your Videos that this Information and Inspiration is exactly what I am missing technically and also from a musical way. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR TIME AND WORK WHICH YOU PUT IN THERE!!!

Hey, thanks for that! Really appreciate your take on this, and I’m glad you resonate with my ways. I feel this works well for me, so my hopes for these videos is that they can be of help to others. So thanks so much for letting me know🙏 When it comes to the beat in the video, I’d have to do some searching, there’s been a lot of beats here and there, and I’ve both sold and given away tons, but I have a catalog here if you’d like to check: on.soundcloud.com/JgZmh9A48b1sQCnYA I’m not on the pro plan anymore, so a lot of beats might be missing, but I guess I’ll get back on it anytime soon. Do you have a link to your stuff? Would love to check it out. One love💯😀

You mentioned you don’t use a low pass filter on every track unless the kick and bass .. could you be more specific about this ? Where you use and where not ? I am curious Thanks :)
@subphoticАй бұрын
Hey, thanks for chiming in! I’m a bit uncertain what you refer to, it’s «been a minute» since I’ve made this video. However, I tend to go careful with the filters in general, and when it comes to highpass filter the general tips you hear is to «clean up the low end» by removing info «down there», but it gets really thin really fast in my experience, in addition to causing some bumps in volume around the cut-off point. On the other hand, if the ears are the guide, no rule exits. But for a beginner it’s good to know about these nuances. Hope this clarified. Please ask again if I misunderstood😀

Nice vid and beat, but why are you turning down your peaks/transients early in the video? Those transients aren't "extreme"-- they sound like the music has life to it. Doesn't L2 tame transients superbly, without having to manually adjust anything beforehand? 24:14 - "Better that it sounds good and the dynamics are present..." Exactly.
