As an Australian, I never knew Burek existed, then one Sunday shift for work my boss brought Burek in and I asked him what it was, the next Sunday shift I had a whole tray for breakfast lol....... I never knew how simple and easy it was to make, definitely going to make some one day. I really appreciate you making this with your baba. My grandmother is German and made lots of German food for Christmas when I was a child, unfortunately she has early dementia so a bit hard to cook with her and learn recipes but nonetheless, I still try to make those efforts. Thank you heaps

The dining room where I eat, serves Churros, but every time I try to eat them, I feel like I could pull out a loose tooth - they are so tough! What could I do to soften them? I thought of wrapping some of the fried Churro’s (without the cinnamon coating) in a dampened paper towel and then heat them in a microwave for 10 - 20 seconds. I’m tired of waisting food - please help/advice. Thank you for your time Lanette

Very similar yemeni dish called break. But a little bit of yeast. It has turkish origins. But we also do a plain none stuffed one with nigella seeds on top and its eaten with honey called bint alsahan which translates to daughter of the dish

I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful and warm videos with your Baba. They remind me of my time with my great-grandmother, Mere. We would do things together all the time and my times with her are some of my most treasured memories. I am 68 now, and hearing you hang out, cook, talk, roll your eyes, and laugh with your Baba just brings back a flood of memories that have not been felt in decades. Mere passed away when I was 15. She was my best friend while I was growing up. I see how you interact with your Baba and I see so much love and admiration from the both of you, much like I had with my Mere. You two warm this 68-year old’s heart. Thank you again!

Your Baba is so cute. And you're not too bad yourself. I love to cook and was watching a video about Serbia before the revolution. They mentioned sarma and I found your video. This is one of the best cooking videos I've watched. There was enough detail about the ingredients that I'm going to try to scale it down a little and make it for friends. I'm hoping I can find a European store here to buy the pickled cabbage heads so I don't have to wait three month to make my sarma. Again, great video.

I'm Slovenian and my granny used to prepare burek exactly as you've demonstrated it, down to the T, it's so lovely to see how Balkan has one and the same culture, no matter the country, Balkan rocks! I love Baba she is amaaazing and so funny! Also my mom would do the the potatoes on the feet with socks in warmed vinegar thingy, whenever we had cold as kids hahah laughed so hard when I heard that! Love your videos!! I cracked sooo hard when Baba said "Special moja masina" hahaha

Your poppyseed strudel looks great! My grandma used to cook her poppyseed filling on the stove with milk and golden raisins. It was an Austrian recipe brought to the US in 1901.
