The spring broke on this tool. Any idea how to fix it, restore it to it's intended function?
@paulschofield263018 сағат бұрын
Yes its a classic from 1940s I would definitely treasure it, the newer ones of this style are much loved by many top players with a unique sound ; that big guitar shop in Newyork has 100s of older collectables just like it, not sure of shop name but easily found would give expert advice cheers 😊

@petedazer3381 sorry sold later in the day for 1200

OP doesn't know what quality looks like. You are ignorant of guitars, so why did you even buy it?
@lightningliquidation5 күн бұрын
I knew it was potentially quality, I bought it because i buy to resell. i actually sold this 2 hours later. I paid $200 and sold it for $1200. I am sure the guy who bought it got a good deal and if he resells it he will make money too.

I'm not sure it is a Gibson.Perhaps a hollow body Frankenstein. Enjoy it.

I just did a reverse image check by screen-printing the guitar and loading into Google Image Search. Looks like a Silvertone 1384, which may or may not have also been manufactured by Harmony. Clearly someone added the neck later.

You have a refinished re neck'ed Harmony H62....look it up. The interesting thing about them renecking with a Gibson neck is the pickups are Gibson made P13s (P90 Predecessors) that Harmony bought Overstock from Gibson in the 1940s. This is a Really cool guitar my dude!

SO COOL. 2 screw TRC. Could be a re-neck with an ES-175 or 295 neck. I would gig this one and have a blast!
@Yannplaysguitar8 күн бұрын
I would say that this guitar is a silvertone 1427L. The body shape, switch and pickups are a match. One previous owner has likely changed the inlay and cut the head in Gibson shape.
@Yannplaysguitar8 күн бұрын
Silvertone guitars have similar f holes and switch

That’s a Supro/Valco guitar body (EDIT: Harmony body), and there’s some pretty obvious signs of the neck replacement job at the neck heel/joint. The neck looks good to me as being genuine Gibson. It’s an interesting mongrel that someone would probably give you decent money for on Reverb as it sits. Fun find, enjoy it. I would definitely encourage you to post it in the Vintage Guitar subforum on the gear page. There are some experts in there that are big players in the vintage guitar world and they will tell you exactly what you have and what to do/not do with it going forward.

The tuners look like original Klusons, too (or Kluson-style, at least). Looks like someone put a Gibson neck on a Silvertone body. Wonder what the garage sale price was?
@Mr.H0LLYW00D6 күн бұрын
Someone In The comments said the body is a Harmony H62 which when searched matches correctly.
@Yannplaysguitar8 күн бұрын
It has a bit the style of a 60s department Store cheap hollowbody guitar of brands like Kay, Harmony, old Kraftsmann, Airline, Supro and the likes. Maybe one of these guitars were the basis of it? The f holes do not look anything like Inhave ever seen on a Gibson, let alone the pickups
