Hi very helpful video. But my question is does this only applies for iPhones? What if someone has a droid. I have an iPhone and I’ve always run my ads from my phone. But what if I log in to my account using a Droid, will the 30% charge still be applied?

The actual threshold for SKAN 4.0 on Meta is 20 conversions (post backs) to get 97% confidence. If you wanna get 100% confidence you’ll need 120+ post backs. From AppsFlyer SKAN 4.0 research.

Great Episode!! I strive to have a "fail" like that. And of course, I'm in the midst of a "Big App Launch". Ahhhhh....

David you are a legend. That launch was far from a fail and this talk is so useful. Stepping back from the coalface and having a debrief like this is something we should all do.

1. is it still 30% in 2024? 2. if apple takes 30% out of 1000 which ends up being 300. then when it comes to the IRS how much and which amount will they tax you on, the 700 after apples cut or the 1,000?
@Planetside2Simon89894 ай бұрын
Would be outrageous if it's the whole 1,000, cause only 700 arrives in your bank account as revenue
@IlllIlllIlllIlll4 ай бұрын
@@Planetside2Simon8989does that mean that the IRS will take their cut/% from the $700 then?

@@Planetside2Simon8989 irs taxes on income, not on revenue.

Awkward being the only comment here, but this interview hit pretty close to home. First, I am a software engineer. Second, I am a person who uses these apps, because my son's mon and I are separated. Here's where I will start. The big 3 apps in this space are all bad. They barely work and it seems like all 3 of them hired 3rd party devs to make their app, then they just shipped it and collect money. Whatever. Some folks do that and that's their business, but all 3 big fish in the space have so many bugs and lackluster customer service teams. Discussing that they should have charged more up front means that I straight up would have never went with TalkingParents. So go ahead and charge more so you can lose customers. We're parents, not your piggy bank to tell us you made some great new feature (which sucks and doesn't even help me) and you want more money? Get outta here, lol. I'll reiterate...I'm a parent and I don';t wanna be on your software to begin with. When you want to do what OurFamilyWizard did, which is add "Tone Meter", which is so incredibly simple to do in code, and then decide you have more value and should charge more...it's just greed. Those things should be free. Reach more families. I think this is sad from TalkingParents... Hearing him talk on the software engineering side of things was the worst part of this. They cut corners, used 3rd party services to bandaid their product together, and then said "Oh no! It's costing us more money!". Well yeah....You cut corners. You should have hired engineers who could build it in-house. This app has me so fed up that I'm building my own to compete, because these folks aren't addressing our issues as parents who are separated.

Duolingo have had ads for free users for many years. Ad after lesson, ads to unlock gems hourly, big banner ads on web.
@OlegGavryliukZodios6 ай бұрын
My points: * Focus on building a valuable product that people are willing to pay for. * Release new app versions frequently and experiment with new features. * Use day eight return on spend (D8 RoS) as your main metric for success. * Showing the pay wall early in the onboarding process. * Sending a 50% off offer to users who cancel their trial.

data coming from meta can't be trusted, we ran correlation analysis and it would have been so off to turn on or off ads just based on the skad or aem cost per trial that meta suggests. also lift tests are incredibly tricky.

"If so many other apps are cheating and if you are not cheating..." I had this feeling so often in the past few years, thank you so much for this entire conversation because competition in the App Stores feels like being alone when you try to be the nice guy. And it's also great to see my 2 favorite app related creators doing an episode together 🎉

Very true. It took me 3 years to realise that it is not about quantity but quality. 500 customers paying $0.99 monthly is easier than going after 1M downloads
