How u like the performance of the aftermarket vvt cam? Mind sharing which cam u selected?

@mnmadman5405 I went with rhe COMP Cams 156-401-13 XFI RPM HI-LIFT 214/228 Hydraulic Roller Cam for GM LS GEN IV. I did all teh work and tuning myself with HP tuners. I noticed a definite increase in horsepower and I get better fuel economy now!

Both owned by women lol my economics teacher had the fourth gen with the WS6 ram air package, I used to see her at the track sometimes

When you dropped the distributor in and put on the cap - I believe your rotor was pointing at the #8 cylinder instead of the #1 cylinder (unless you made that the #1 terminal, I don't know). It should have fired immediately if the timing was correct the second the fuel made it into the bowl. The small 'boom' you get at the beginning of cranking is residual fuel burning very, very late through one of the intake valves of 5 or 7 (since they fire so close together). Bring #1 to the top during compression, set the damper to about 10° BTDC and check your rotor. If it's not pointing at or close to the #1 terminal, reset the distributor. ALSO, you don't need the distributor to fall down on the oil pump when resetting it (the pump doesn't care if it's timed to the engine). If it's like a tooth or two off, pull it up, move it those two teeth and set it back in right on top of the oil pump. Crank the engine over, the distributor will fall down into the oil pump slot when it gets aligned. Bring #1 to top on compression and check your rotor again. We do it this way almost every time on the dyno and it has never failed us.

For the rear brake line to the line lock I used 2 m14x1.5 to 1/8"npt adapters.

@Greatlakesgarage I just saw, aren't you supposed to put the line lock for the front brakes? So the front locks up?

@stickfee299 depends on when and why you want your brakes locked. For me it's only going to be used during the burnout and not at the tree.

@@Greatlakesgarage After some online research, Chevrolet division of general Motors did not make a 400 big block. Big block was 396, later a 402 big block badged as a 396 because of the 396 popularity & they wanted that to remain. Like the popularity simular to the famous 409 (Beach Boys). 400 CID was the Big Boy of the Chevrolet Small Blocks.👌👌👌
