I've never forgotten you guys... First discovered you at Smarden, Kent and was totally blown away by the whole spectacle, with Trevor's theatricals being the icing on the cake. Not even sure which year that was now but it was amazing to see a Genesis tribute so close to home! Didn't catch up with you again until July 8th 2007 at the Half Moon Putney on the way to Twickenham for the real thing, nicely timed lunchtime event with Henry Dagg on keys and over a fair few beers, making it a heck of a great and unforgettable Genesis day. Thanks!

Did you know the original version of this released in 1969 was different to the one that was a hit in 1975? Tony Blackburn played the '69 version this morning and commented on it, saying he had to play this one (which he preferred) cos it is Sounds of the Sixties

One of The Thousand Bars that has disappeared from the Cropredy Weekend is the White Swan at Great Bourton, just up the hill, South of Cropredy. Some great times were had there. This is one of my favourite Fairport tracks from what is for me their strongest album in many a year. Gawd bless ya lads!

Hi ThatCat, I played it completely by ear. I bought Fish Out Of Water in 1981 aged 18 and could play the whole LP by ear within a month...then time passed and I became a little ropey. I was prompted by Chris Squire's untimely death to play this as a tribute; I'm pleased with it but there are some fluffs which sadly I can never go back and erase!

Well played. The photos of 'The Piston Broke' and 'The Earth and Stars' are the actual pubs referenced in the song. Most of the others - apart from the obvious - are in Brighton, Hove and Worthing so should be easy enough to find. 8-)

This was the version that always received radio play. Meco was more famous for it’s long play at the clubs. But, they are two completely different arrangements altogether.

The irony though was that John Williams claimed to not have even heard of "Disco" until Meco Monardo gained popularity with his take on Williams' "STAR WARS" soundtrack, and said that he was proud that Meco (R.I.P.) was expanding on his reinterpretations of Williams' other movie themes, "SUPERMAN" in particular.

Simon Nicol's recording of this Huw Williams classic is about as perfect as it gets. For those of us who have suffered the travesty of losing a child we know all too well one never gets over it, or learns to live with it, or accept it - you just continue to live. To my mind there have been many songs centered on the death of a child, but none I have heard have so delicately and convincingly conveyed the internal struggle as this song and this recording.

Reminds me of sunny days in the market square under the castle in Monaco, all the kids running around and that collective, careless joy rising into the air that you get from a playground - even if it is in French ! This song is cracking !
