Same Riley crazy in Miami got that team losing held back his own success in NY by not playing Blackman and Mason. Sad.

This loss derailed the Lakers' playoff run that season even though they won this series. The playoffs that year were on a compressed schedule because of the early-season lockout; OKC with Durant, Westbrook and Harden had swept their first-round series and were laying in wait. If the Lakers had won this game, they would have had 3 days off before facing the Thunder. But because they lost, and then lost G6 in Denver, they had around 40 hours between the end of G7 and the start of the OKC series (which they lost by 30 points) and had to play 5 games in 7 days against a more talented OKC team, which they couldn't overcome.
