This video is outstanding, but it should be updated to reflect OSHA's strong recommendation to use climbing safety helmets when using ladders. It is just as important as using the ladders correctly.

It's funny to me how scared of everything these safety guys are. The real men arent worried about it in the field, just the soft people that work in offices and classrooms.

I still believe this is fake. Inspector just happens to show up. The ladder is sung so the camera moves. Dude is at the pipe when the wall collapses. Maybe, maybe its real but the 9 years of blue collar in me says staged

Was out at a small site demolition of a car dealership, major brand, and the small company handling it sent me and others up to a 2nd. floor to remove steel stud. Electrical walked by and his PEN went off: live wires, 220 and 440. Immediately the young fat F. super opened his mouth with an EXCUSE. I dropped the wall by his head, and the guys left with me (Agency). Mistakes happen, but take responsibility if you're the lead or boss. People could have been very dead or injured or lose body parts.

I was having a new septic tank installed outside my house, when one of the workers descended into the trench to help guide the tank into place. The crane operator swung the concrete tank right over top of him. I cringed but said nothing. The next morning I awoke to see the area he was standing in had collapsed, and filled 2/3 with dirt. These guys do this kind of job daily. 😳

I had to work with a excavator operator from a city once out in the Oilfield. He had no idea how to dig a bell hole.

OSHA man distracted the workers. Saw a man in a dangerous situation and started chit chatting, being a smart ass. Should have told the worker to get out instead telling the bossman that the guy can't be in there.

If you work somewhere they take safety seriously, stuff like osha is a bother, wastes time. If you work somewhere they dont, you want a visit often. You may even dream of it.

Idiots that company needs to be fined or have their license pulled for doing this, by Federal OSHA law if you dig a trench, deeper than 5 feet, you need to install what is called a trench box, this prevents the walls of the dirt from avalanching into the trench and killing who ever is in there.. if you have 6 foot long by 4 foot wide 8 feet deep trench, if it Collapses, about 10 tons of soil will fall into the trench meaning if some one is in there about 10 tons of soil will land on them.. And that is only a 6 foot long by 4 foot wide and 8 feet deep, that is considered a small trench.. This trench you see is is well over 8 feet deep and about 30 feet long so you got anywhere from 40 to 80 tons of dirt that can fall onto some one in there, these guys are idiots.. I know all this because my brother works for OSHA and in this state, this operation would have been shut down, Until a trench box was installed.. And of course huge fines and probably suspension of their Licenses.. This is no joke people die from this stupid shit all the time watch the link below shows a video of some worker killed with a trench similar to this one. Glad OSHA came when they did, OSHA needs to stop this operation and hold the person in charge accountable.. He actually can be charged with manslaughter if some one gets killed because of negligence.. there is some one who did get charged with that for this reason, check out the link.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g8BmnK2IvLqqmGg.html

“Podium” ladders are complete trash. They are by far more dangerous then traditional A frame ladders. Also very heavy. Do people that require these podium ladders even use them or is it someone that sites behind a computer that thinks it’s all of a sudden a good idea….. I find myself needing to stand one down from the platform to complete work as I am taller then majority of people.

For Oregon OSHA, all standards are available as PDF - the link to the training course in this video description is a quick way to get to the website. Look up Construction under the A to Z topic list, or from the top menu go to Rules, then to Division 3 Construction.

OSHA is great when they actually help. Most of my experience with safety officers and OSHA involve someone who knows nothing about the actual work being performed. Their books tells them that something is ok. I really wish they would’ve shown up to my last employer. I worked for a safety company that was FAR from safe!!!

I fell from a tree house that my Mother's boyfriend built. It was the ladder step that came undone from the tree. I fell probably 15 feet. When I fell, I was in shock wondering if I'm hurt. And then I cried because of the pain!

Talk about paying lip service to safety. That (inadequate) shoring box they had going in the hole was waaay too small for the size of the excavation too. Supervisor sounded like a proper dick tas well. As others have said, willing to put good money on one of the crew calling this in!
