The Last Stand (2053 Japanese novelization) Sheriff Yoshitada Tsukishima (月島 義忠) resigns himself to a life of crime-fighting in the sleepy border town of Kuroyama Junction in Higashimine. Tsukishima left his Nagoya PD post following a bungled operations. Tsukishima was left wracked with the defeat after his partner was crippled and his team was decimated. The crimes experienced in Kuroyama range from the Mayor parking his Camaro in the fire lane to vintage arms collector Wataru Hayasaka (早坂 渉) firing off guns at slabs of meat with the deputies. One night, Ryuuzou Matsukawa (松川 龍三), an international drug lord and race car driver, makes a daring escape from FBI custody in Nagatani and speeds off in a modified Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1, taking Agent Hitomi Ihara (伊原 瞳) as his hostage as he races southbound toward U.S. at speeds over 200 mph. Agent Shigeru Ushio (牛尾 茂) has a blockade set up in Maoka, Higashimine, but Matsukawa's men mow down the cops on site and clear the road for him to continue his getaway. Matsukawa also uses his extraordinary driving skills to immobilize two SWAT vehicles headed toward Kuroyama Junction. Before flying to Higashimine, Ushio has his team do a financial background check on all agents involved to learn about the mole, who has helped Matsukawa's escape. At 4:30 A.M, Tsukishima dispatches deputies Shuuji Oikawa (及川 秀治) and Youko Iwaizumi (岩泉 容子) to visit the residence of the local farmer, Kunimi (国見), who has suddenly missed his usual milk delivery at the diners. After discovering that Kunimi has been murdered, the deputies follow a trails of tire tracks that lead them to Matsukawa's brutal henchman: Yousuke Oohira (大平 陽助) and his mercenary cutthroats, who are planting a mobile assault bridge across the canyon that marks Japan/U.S. border. Oikawa is fatally shot in the middle of a shootout between the deputies and the thugs before Tsukishima rushes in to bring his officers back to his precinct. Shortly after being notified by Ushio of Matsukawa's presence, Tsukishima gathers Iwaizumi and senior Deputy Juutarou “Juu-tan” Kadowaki (門脇 重太郎). Kadowaki also deputizes jailed local Jou Kiuchi (木内 譲), a former Japanese Marine who is a veteran of the Iraq War with PTSD who developed a streak of never finishing what he started it because Oikawa was his friend, Kiuchi is insists that he will not falter. Finally, Tsukishima recruits Hayasaka to protect their town. Hayasaka agrees only if he becomes a deputy and if he keeps the gun Tsukishima had confiscated earlier. At 7:10 A.M., Tsukishima and his deputies, equipped with weapons from Hayasaka's private museum, have the town's main road barricaded with cars when Oohira and his men arrive, prompting a lengthy firefight. Armed with a Tommy gun, Kadowaki holds off the thugs before being injured by a sniper. Tsukishima and Hayakasa mow down a majority of the thugs with a Vickers machine gun mounted on the back of a school bus with Kiuchi providing cover fire, while Iwaizumi snipes not only several, but two gunmen on the rooftops. After Tsukishima kills Oohira, Matsukawa's Corvette eventually arrives in town, veering past the barricade as the former and the deputies shoot it. Matsukawa ejects Ihara from the car before speeding through a corn field. Suddenly, Matsukawa had encounters the mayor's Camaro commandeered by Tsukishima before both the cars collide with a swather. A dazed Matsukawa continues his escape on foot, but Tsukishima meets him at the bridge. Tsukishima ignores Matsukawa's bribe offers before both men fight each other. Despite against sustaining slashes to stab wounds from Matsukawa's push dagger, Tsukishima defeats and handcuffs him before dragging him back into town using the battered for now roofless Camaro. Ushio arrives to take Matsukawa back into custody and arrests Ihara for taking a bribe from him by aiding in his escape. Kadowaki and Hayasaka are taken to the hospital to be treated for their wounds. Kiuchi turns in the deputy's badge, Oikawa's badge, that Tsukishima had given him earlier. Tsukishima tells him to keep it, as he earned it. As the Mayor sees what is left of his Camaro, Tsukishima warns him about parking in the fire lane before he, Iwaizumi and Kiuchi walk into the diner. Not Numbered: Joutarou Kaieda (海江田 丈太郎) and Yoshihiro Tsujimoto (辻本 吉弘): Both are undeniably killed as Kadowaki open fires against Oohira and his men while the former dead, but the latter suffer with major injuries until dying at it. 0:59: Eita Kamei (亀井 英太): Same as Fujimura, he meets his end by Iwaizumi’s sniper rifle when he scopes through Kadowaki where he defends Kuroyama Junction as Oohira and his men encountering him. 1:01: Hideya Sugawara (菅原 秀哉): Get killed in the bus as Kiuchi shot his forehead with his pistol against the bus’s windshield that he trying to stops Tsukishima and his friends. 1:06: Masanobu Abe (阿部 正伸): Finished off by a Vickers machine gun from Tsukishima, which the effect of machine gun bullets being more painful to his hip, causing him bisected in half. 1:11: You Iwanaga (岩永 陽): Even thought he attempts to leave peacefully when he’s not strong against Tsukishima’s Vickers machine gun and try to fight back for Abe’s death, but he didn’t make it to safe, resulted him dies. 1:16: Naoki Akiyama (秋山 直貴): Get caught by Tsukishima and his brain blasted by his gun as both are fall from the rooftop onto a sunshade of old woman’s house where the former survived, but the latter aren’t. 1:23: Shunsuke Kamishima (神島 駿輔): Shot thirteen times by Kiuchi when defends himself from him and Iwaizumi as he going shots them on the junction’s house. 1:31: Kyouchi Aihara (相原 教一): Gruesomely exploded into a watermelon by Hayasaka’s flare gun that it sparks his bandolier on his back in dozen times before he is blow up when he retreating from him, saved for his own arms and legs as his one arm waking Kadowaki up despite he is suffered with major injuries. 1:48: Shinjirou Fujiki (藤木 信次郎): Finds Tsukishima by killing him under Oohira’s orders without old lady’s warning that he witnesses her with a silent trash-talking, before she directly fires his chest through his heart with her shotgun that sends him into her house’s window in broken glass. 1:51: Yousuke Oohira (大平 陽助): His ear is took down and shoots him again in his head by Tsukishima to ends the big battle in Kuroyama where he goes to the bus as the latter, Hayasaka and Kiuchi fought him.
