Lived in el cajon in the 60s and 70s, went to Granite Hills class of 71. This bring back many memories. Still consider it my home town.

when CA was still CA. A place where people from around the country wanted to live. I had cousins from Oklahoma who loved CA back in the 80s. CA is a shell of its former self. We were so lucky to experience the late stages of CA's golden age.

High school was a difficult time for me I was a foot shorter than the girls about 40 lb overweight with crooked yellow teeth and a bad case of gas the ugliest girl in school would not give me the time of day so predictably I played with myself a lot and over time went blind

Almost all of those kids now have their own children that are in college or even already graduated from college. And this high school is still one of the best in all of SoCal.

Jack was doing a great job when he was close to the Lord and staying on the old paths. Everything collapsed when he compromised with the Catholics. This is a great sermon when he was a good old-fashioned independent Baptist. Many souls were saved in those days

I remember as a little kid riding past the old theater, it was called the "pussycat' back then.

i remember that too. That was in the 70s and early 80s. I used to eat with my family at the Taco Bell across the street. My brother and I knew there was something mysterious about the place, but we were just discovering sexual attraction and were about 9-12 years old. Originally I believe it was called the "El Cajon Theater", and this part of town became a little seedy and people went to Parkway Plaza to watch movies at the UA (now where Walmart is). Later the Pussycat Theater closed, probably due to the rise of the VCR. Then opened for a short time as a regular theater in the early 90s. I remember see "Awakenings" there with Robin Williams. Now no Robin Williams, and not movie theater.

That's also funny because my brother has a friend who was a metal head rocker in the 80s and he saw this LP and said that "Hell Without Hell" sounded like a great title for a metal song, and then started singing how it might sound. It sounded good!

Great video, only one small error, the photo at 5:17 showing the Silver Dollar saloon is actually 3rd avenue in Chula Vista - I grew up in Chula Vista and spent a lot of time on 3rd avenue.

So happy to have grown up there. I loved El Cajon in the 70s. Is WD Hall elementary school still around? Now all of San Diego other than areas near where Machado lives are just a big trash pile

El Cajon is nearly the same as it was in the 80s. It's definately more crowded and expensive now but it's not gang infested like Lemon Grove, South Spring Valley, or East San Diego. The Chaldeans(Middle Eastern) folks for the most part are fine people.. their kids don't joing gangs and they are respectful. If the Chaldeans didn't move-in El Cajon could've easily gone the same way Lemon Grove did...😨
