I have heard so many warnings about the mess of unavoidable overspray. You’ve certainly solved the problem!

beautiful quilt, indeed. I agree with your method of making HSTs. I add one more step and sew the cut-away, too, so I have some HSTs to use in another project.😉 It's always nice to see another person's methods....opens mind for more efficiency.

I have worked with panels quite often, and will say that QT panels are by far the worst in being off centered. So who does QT hire to roll the bolts of fabric? I’m not understanding why a company would push the fix to the consumer when other companies who sell panels don’t have problems with them being wonky.

I make mine on my carpet 🤷🏻♀️ I tried it once on the hard floor it came out worse than any of my other quilt tops. I’ve never seen it done on the bed though, so I might have to check this out.

What a great idea. I always spray the bottom and first. Really impressed with this idea. I’ve got a QS quilt and I’ll do this tonight.

Mike: Like you, I start about 1/4" in from the edge and backstitch to lock the seam edge before sewing the seam. Too often I've had to go back and re-stitch the end of the seam because the stitches have come loose. Nice to know I'm not the only one who does this. Have really enjoyed your videos, especially your Quilting Your Quilt series. Great stuff!

Very, very helpful series on quilt sandwich making, quilting and binding!!!! Currently working on quilting my first quilt, which is a small, charity quilt for a child. I took the time and pinned the quilt sandwich together, which was a good lesson in and of itself. However, will use 505 Spray on a mattress or large table top (depending on the size) to baste. Really appreciated your timing the loop quilting of the king sized quilt! That was extremely helpful!!!! I have both Baby Lock Jazz II and Crescendo machines, and watching your quilting on a Baby Lock Crescendo made your video feel like it was made just for me. 😊 Also, never saw the binding sewn onto a quilt using a serger before (which I have), so that was really a new concept. A lot of people don't like hand sewing, but I don't mind the process. Every 6" or so I put in a locking stitch or tow to ensure that, if the thread breaks, the previous stitches won't come lose and come out. Thank you so very, very much for your quilting tutorial series! BRAVO to you for taking the time and making the effort for quilt newbies like me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BTW: You now have 605 subscribers! 😀

Wow! Very impressive! First time I see your video! Well done! Today, I went to sandwich my king size quilt at Church with my girlfriend...well It took us 3 hours to pin it. When I turned it over, there was wrinkles, pucker and you name it...tomorrow I got to make another attempt and redo it all. My mistakes were: I did not secure my backing (even with masking tape) and did not use basting spray. Thank you for these great tips! Blessings!

I tried that and I have to take it all out. I ended up with loose threads and eyelash's on the back. I am starting to think I will never get the hang of FMQ. Great video though.
@lafcustomdesigns2 жыл бұрын
I discovered that my "eyelash" problem was the thread. When I use machine quilting thread, I'm much less likely to get "eyelashes." I'm brand new (like a week of practice) and am quite pleased with my progress.
