If Peter was still alive today he would become the host of wipeout, but not this version of it.

REAL CBS program plug and ads, no GSN speed up.......OP If the master copy tapes are damaged, maybe Fremantle/Mrs. Carruthers should be told about it. Buzzer or a CBS archivist could go into KZfaq's "guts" and extract the film and cut it. We've come a LONG WAY baby when it comes to video editing stuff.😎

Rick Stern, associate director, and sometime director on PYL, confirmed that the claim that the 700's are damaged beyond repair is untrue. And I'm pretty sure nothing terrible happened to those particular episodes between 1996, when Bill Carruthers sold it to Pearson/Fremantle, and 2001, when GSN first picked up the show. If it was true, I'm certain it would have been well-known at that point.

When I saw the GSN premiere, I could not remember what year this show took place or who made it from watching it on USA. I saw the credits and learned that G-T did not make it.... And it was from 1984-1986. I ate so much junk food and popcorn that week. That week was easy to remember, not hard to forget either.@@VahanNisanian

@@Wizardof 1983-1986. I remember when in 2005, VH1 showed footage from #708 (Bruce/Jo/Paige) for 𝘐 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 '80'𝘴 3-𝘋. The footage looked to be in perfect condition. It didn't look like there was anything wrong with it.

I THINK GSN only leased what it could budget for so they never made it to the 700s. They got to the 600s here what five year ago? So they have to be in good shape yes.@@VahanNisanian

@@Wizardof They got to #696 in 2015, and Buzzr recently showed the very next episode after that one back in June. So it took eight years to get something from after #696 on TV.

2/16/1989 airdate here, since the "Today in Music History" mentions that date in 1966

Also, the "Stairway to Heaven" in the Neil Sedaka category predates the more familiar Led Zeppelin song by nine years.

Around the same time the show was cancelled, there were plans to move it to syndication after the last episode, but unfortunately it never happened.

@angrybirdsfan2003 Had "Press Your Luck" moved to syndication. The top cash prize would have been $10,000 (finally done in 2019).

Looked like they forgot to clear the flashing indicator before restarting the board, causing the lights to flicker momentarily as they bounced around the board. Never saw that happen before!

Aunjuli - as a devoted Press Your Luck fan I cannot sincerely thank you enough for uploading these! These episodes are from the final week of the show in September 1986 - the final month has NEVER been rerun, so the only way some fans (some such as myself, who was born just after the show’s original run) ever get to see any of the “lost” episodes is through the random kindness of someone like you who had them! Bet you had NO idea just how valuable and long sought-after these episodes were! Your mom was an awesome contestant, I hope she treasured the experience! THANK YOU again!

Joe referenced at the beginning of the show who won over $50K is believed to be Joe Scott, who was profiled in the first of two issues of TV Game Show Fever Magazine coming out in late 1986 and was said to have won $50K and two trips, and was said to be on near the end of the run, as it was said in the article PYL was done as of Oct 1986. This is believed to be from 9/23 and 9.24 as per a post on Press Your LUck Guiders, there was a promo at the end of the 9/23 episode of the Monday 9/29 season premiere of Newhart(theme music from it heard), and the person who won on 9/23 was on the 9/26/86 finale.

This is a HUGE find for those of us trying to chronicle the final episodes of Press Your Luck, as they've never been rerun anywhere on cable. In fact, from what little that is known, it's possible these are from the final week of the show, because the winner of the 2nd show is believed to be the final champion. Thank you for bringing these episodes to light. Don't lose them.
