Could you let us know what information or experience our kids are missing out on? I will admit we shelter them. That is our job as parents. But we also want them to function in the real world. So which things do I need to expose them to for them to be successful? Bullying? School bus rides? Prom? Standing in line?

@@HerdingLittleCows I would start with a solid education, beyond what I’ve seen homeschooling tends to provide. They may not grow up and want to be Nobel prize winners, but giving them a level of education that allows them to be confident and competent in those spaces is important. Being ‘sheltered’ does not usually mean that children are unable to function at all in society, rather their reach and impact in adulthood are often limited. The effects of being very sheltered as a child (in my experience) come out in poor social skills, relatively weak critical thinking and either a difficulty or inability to understand and accept the diversity of peoples and cultures without immediate prejudice.

I am curious on your thoughts about kids and the Bible. I have heard some families say they require their kids to have a personal quiet time, other parents say don't force it. I know we are to train and nurture them in the Lord. Do you think parents should require their child to have a personal Bible reading time?
@HerdingLittleCows
@HerdingLittleCows 5 күн бұрын
@@ashlieleavelle That’s a great question, thanks for asking. We as parents are commanded to make disciples including our children, and many young children cannot read well on their own. We do have our kids listen to an audio Bible our sermon at night as it is profitable for them, but we don’t require them to read the Bible on their own. We do read and discuss the Bible each day as a family though, so they are getting to know the major themes and accounts of the Bible regularly. That being said, two of our readers who have not yet come to Christ in faith and repentance for salvation have chosen to follow the example of the baptized believers among the children and read their Bibles on their own. Those who have followed the Lord in baptism read their Bibles and pray on their own regularly. They also participate in family worship as well as discussions with us in the evening after the littles have gone to their bedrooms.

IF/SINCE Mark has Neurological Problems; then HOW can he be the Decision Maker; when you have DISCLOSED that Mark Cannot work anymore and Cannot drive anymore and Often has PROBLEMS with rational and appropriate Decision making ??!!! He confesses that he doesn't always communicate correctly and has memory problems and can easily get disoriented and fall down. HOW does that make Mark the person in charge of making decisions for his wife and children ??!! SINCE Mark cannot WORK to financially $$$$$$$$$$$ support a large & growing family; HOW is the large and growing Family Supported $$$$$$$$ ?? WHY would a Woman/Wife want to expand her family when she doesn't have a Husband that WORKS ??

Mark still makes the decisions. Obviously if there was a safety concern I would override a decision and mark understands that. But what to eat for supper can be chosen. Where we should go on vacation, which car? Husbands are given a wife as a suitable helper. I think many couples discuss decisions so input is given to make informed decisions. But mark is the leader of our family. If you are interested in our finances, we have a video that discusses how we comfortably live on a very limited income from disability insurance. I want to have whatever size family God wants us to have. I serve a God who “owns the cattle in a thousand hills” and created the universe. I may not always understand how he will supply, but I know that he is capable. And he works all things together for good for those who love him. I trust God. I will do things according to His will the best that I can. And give him the glory. Thank you for allowing me to share how awesome my God is.
