Yes, my wife typically gets 19 or 20mpg around town. She has a heavier foot than I do most days :). I typically get 22 or 23 when driving casually. Although, I've spent some days around town driving only in sport mode, and I got 18ish. We are really pleased with the way this vehicle drives so far. Thanks a ton for watching. Prior gen was lighter with more steering feel, but down on power vs this. I've owned a 2014 BRZ from new and still adore it and never been tempted to upgrade. After market support for this platform is like playing with Lego. I'd love seeing your impression of an older gen now that you've tried this though you do kinda have to drive like you stole it, but then that's part of its charm.

Lol. You think Mustang's have a lot of power?????? Lol. Uh, NO! And while I like my NC, and think it's a lot of fun to tool around in, I have a hard time hearing you and others call this a sports car. I also have a 740WHP 335i E92 Coupe, and that is the MOST fun car I've ever owned. I've had Camaro's, Mustang's, Corvette's, Porsch's and even Alpha Romeo's, but NOTHING has ever put a constant smile on my face like my E92. I recently bought my NC for the exact reason you gave around the 20 minute mark, it's inexpensive fun. This car is much cheaper to run around in than my bimmer, and I'm not paranoid about anything happening to it, so I can relax and just have fun. So, CHEAP FUN is a real valuable thing, and makes this car so worth it to own. Lastly, if my research is correct, Mazda dropped the "Miata" name in 2003, so why do people KEEP calling it a Miata, instead of just what it is now, and MX-5???
@DriveItOut14 күн бұрын
I'm glad you found a car you really connect with. I hope you continue to enjoy the BMW for a long long time. It sounds like a wild one! I've had alot of high horsepower cars too, and I definitely miss my Corvette the most. You may enjoy the video we did recently of the BMW Performance Driving Center in South Carolina.... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNanicqJupfZo5s.htmlsi=L7ZY9wZ4qJWPXiP6 Also, we have a video coming soon of our experience Driving the new Mustang Darkhorse on track at Road America. That was a ton of power and a big track like that was great for exploiting all that horsepower and torque. Also, many know the Miata as, actually, the purest example of a sports car still available in the US today. 2 seats and light-weight are two of the main ingredients. Sounds like you've owned some awesome cars. Our car history sounds quite similar. Nevertheless, if reffering to the traditional formula, many would say your NC is the most "sports carish" sports car on your list because it's the lightest example. It's truly regarded as the modern standard for sports cars under $50,000. It's all about the handling and power to weight ratio. I would recommend the Miata history videos that the guys at Savagegeese did.... kzfaq.info/sun/PLr-mTF1DFa-uYhVy6flJn83IiqLWgdssr&si=LZIJT-Wi1TeZOuE- They spend alot of time with the engineers who created the Miata to be the sports car standard for feel and engagement. There are more Miata's raced on track than any other car these days because they are the sports car standard. That said, they don't have to be everyone's favorite. We were also just on track in the new BRZ and it's a great example of an excellent sports car without alot of power. Alao note, Mazda still uses the Miata name. It's right on the cover of the manufacturer's brochure for my 2012 NC. Mazda also uses "Miata" on their website for the current cars. I hope you continue to enjoy the NC and maybe even go Autocrossing with it. Thanks a ton for watching!

@@calt2386what about Lexus nx compare to this car
@DriveItOut2 ай бұрын
Right on! Favorite feature so far?
@DriveItOut2 ай бұрын
The Lexus NX would be a great comparison. I would love to get that on video. At first glance the Lexus would would be similar in many ways, but probably not as athletic or light on its feet as the CX-5. NX is slightly heavier, and most likely tuned for comfort over a sporty ride relative to the Mazda. The Lexus also offers CVT transmissions in some variants (not the most exciting), as well as hybrid options. This differs the two quite a bit in some trims. Knowing what I know at this point, I would choose the CX-5, but I am a big fan of many Toyota/Lexus products, and I'm sure the NX would not disappoint. Also note, Toyota has a small stake in Mazda, and the two companies share technology and assembly locations sometimes. This speaks to the quality of both products. Thanks for watching!

@spitfyre15512 ай бұрын
Awesome video, considering pulling the trigger on one of these. Did you do anything with the VCM as some have said?
@DriveItOut2 ай бұрын
Thanks! You know, I didn't do anything with the vcm. I understand the caution some people have for it. Ideally, I would prefer not to have it. It would be better to have all cylinders working all the time. That would definitely lean into the longevity of the engine. Nevertheless, I continually see these running to very high mileage regardless. I just sold this vehicle and I had zero problems from 100k mi. To 140k mi. We also tend to drive with a heavier foot. So the pilot spent less time in eco mode than it would with someone who drove it less aggressively. I honestly think driving softly with more time in eco mode would be quicker to cause problems related to the vcm. This is simply my theory though. You may find others with a different opinion. It's, overall, a great vehicle! It's hard to find that recipe these days. Naturally aspirated with a real automatic transmission. So many vehicles have switched to CVTs. I would keep this Pilot over a CVT equipped vehicle any day. Thanks for watching!
@spitfyre15512 ай бұрын
