Apparently the Marines enjoyed them more than the M1, but had to give them back.

Good thing is at least if you got handed one of these, it used the same ammo as the garand. Different clips but the same ammo

I really like the rifle. Large capacity. Robust. Was a good one. I think one of the reasons it was a no go was the bayonet. The Johnson rifle didn’t work well with it. If I’m correct.

What type of shells can you fire out of the U.S. Model 11 with the Cutts Comp? Slugs, Buck and Bird shot?

Ive got one, it has lots of character and very little bluing. The action is extremely smooth and it feeds cartridges effortlessly. The bore has a lot of wear but it still shoots acceptably well. Ive had mine for years, i actually bought it from Pat Burns years before she sold the collection to a commercial outfit. It's a beautiful rifle just like it is.
@MilsurpMikeChannel4 күн бұрын
What ammo have you put through it? Also, you are the second person who has mentioned that Pat Burns collection. I need to read more about the lore (heh, that rhymes) on that.
@RickNethery4 күн бұрын
@MilsurpMikeChannel Hey Mike. I've fired some Norma soft points, some surplus, and a few Russian import brands you can't get anymore, like Brown Bear and Silver Bear. I've still got some Tula and Herters. Pat Burns was a lady who used to individually list Finish M39 rifles and sell them to C&R license holders. Her late husband had owned thousands of them. Classic Firearms bought the entire collection. It was back in the good ole days of surplus.
@MilsurpMikeChannel4 күн бұрын
Mine likely came from that collection... I got mine from Classic in 2015 from one of their holiday sales for like $350.
@RickNethery4 күн бұрын
@MilsurpMikeChannel Yes, sir, your rifle was part of that collection. Classic firearms has a video of when they recieved the rifles from her. It was several large crates of rifles. I hate that you missed it when Mrs Burns had it. You would have loved that site, brother. She would take rifles every week and list them individually with several pictures and a very accurate description. I used to stare at her ads for hours. I picked out the one I bought because I liked the character it had. She even had some that looked brand new, as well as some with antique recievers. Mine has a war time Arctic Birch stock with really nice figure.
@Grantiese4 күн бұрын
I got mine from Pat Burns as well. 1896 receiver so it’s an antique. Only thing I didn’t like was it had a post war stock that was unfinished. Shot 1000’s of rounds of surplus Bulgarian through it. My go to ammo now days is the brown bear 203 grain soft point. Scary accurate with the stuff.
@INeverMetAGunIDidntLike5 күн бұрын
My understanding is that the ammo made for them (today) does not use the proper bullet diameter, is that correct?
@MilsurpMikeChannel4 күн бұрын
Yea... it is a bit smaller because most of the manufacturers will use bullets available... I think they pretty much use the same bullet as they do the Swede 6.5.

I don't get how Lee was able to stack 10 rounds of .303 in a simple box in the 1880s, and we were getting 'girth' in 1941.

I just don’t understand how in the Heaven Glock19X went unnoticed. I own P320 M17 myself and I will say this. The military simply went with Sig due to better prices. For what it’s worth, the beretta still managed to improve their products.

Why let the Swedish rifle making equipment that you already own go to waste, when you can use it-with some minor adjustments-to manufacture a handy little carbine, that could be issued to local guards/sentries, law enforcement, and for general firearms handling and marksmanship instruction? As pet projects go, this one ain’t too bad of an idea. Egypt got a carbine out of it that fired locally manufactured ammo, and not only saved hard currency by avoiding foreign imports, but the country actually made some foreign export earnings, once the Swedish equipment and a bunch of these carbines were sold to Iraq after the 1973 October War. Iraq then went on to manufacture the Baghdad carbine, which was its copy of the Egyptian Rasheed.
@MilsurpMikeChannel13 күн бұрын
Thing was... they were already making AKs at Maadi. Spending resources on developing a bastardized SKS was really a waste.
