Julia Jahns' official taste tester here. Here's my breakdown: 1) Carrot Cake Cupcakes: 10/10 - I love cream cheese frosting. 2) Zucchini bread: 9.2/10 - if you've had banana bread, it's very close to that. Slap some butter on a slice and now you're living.

Becky also has a granola recipe that gets nice big clumps. She uses a little flour and water in the mixture to add some extra binding. It’s my favorite granola recipe! 😋

I also make my own vanilla extract, and recently learned you can reuse the beans for 2-3 batches before tossing them! I would also love to make the vanilla sugar but don’t have a dehydrator or freeze dryer (yet 🤞🏼)

Julia Jahns official taste tester here (non-biased 3rd party). These brownies get 10/10. Brownies are always good (how can you mess up chocolate, butter and sugar), but these brownies take me back to being a kid at a potluck and putting down like 20 of these because they're so delicious and I didn't know better

Did you know that you can save your tomato skins and dehydrate them which you can then store. You would use the powder for tomato paste, soups etc

I dehydrate my tomato skins to add flavor in my dishes… I powder the dehydrated tomato skins for ease of use. Just an fyi.

Great job on your canning.. the air bubbles won't give you botulism.. but it helps to not have seepage from the jars Forcing the air up from under the lid while in the bath... You'll be fine... Great video...❤

Most strawberry plants won't give fruit until they’ve been established for a few years! I just learned that this year so I thought I would share :) Definitely research for your area, but maybe find a way to keep the strawberry plants over the winter and let them be more established after a few years

to take the bitterness out of the rhubarb, chop it up pour boiling water over it and let it stand for an hour strain it . throw the water away . you still get the lovely rhubarb flavor without the bitterness. and much kinder to your kidneys..

Enjoyed seeing you learning to can! I've been canning for many years and also teach a culinary class at our high school. Just for your info, not de-bubbbling will not make botulism spores grow. Your salsa is perfectly safe to eat! Happy canning!

As I mention in the video, I don't want this to serve as a tutorial since I am new to canning and would never want to steer someone to a recipe they didn't fully vet themselves. Hope you can understand; I just feel there is a lot at stake with home preservation, and I want others to make sure they feel comfortable with the recipes they use. The USDA has a guide to home canning and links to USDA-approved recipes.

Sorry for not sharing the full list of ingredients; I recommend finding a safe canning recipe that meets your own criteria! With so much at stake with home preservation, I would never want to steer someone to a recipe they didn’t fully vet themselves. The USDA has a guide to home canning and links to USDA-approved recipes. Hope you can understand.
