is there any brand of flat paint that you could recommend as being better? Also would you suggest some kind of bonder? and/or flat primer

Vevor was incredibly supportive and helpful to me. When I opened the box I found they had gone out of their way to place not 1 but 2 PERMANENT kinks in the pick-up tube. Instead of packing the tube in a coil, they packed it in an S and made sure to stuff it down as hard as they could. What came out of the box was a Z shape. Thanks, Vevor. I feel special. Mike only got 1 kink. OK, getting serious, thanks, Mike. This is my first venture into airless; got a new length of picket fence and 130' to paint. Both sides. You not only saved me money on DIY but also gave me the tips to fix the shortcomings. Much appreciated. Next up; pergola and deck, then the neighborhood and beyond! 🤓

Do you really have to crank down the nut holding the flat tip or can it be hand tightened
@mikethepainter
@mikethepainter 4 күн бұрын
you need to crank it down tight on the flat tip Some of the reversa have a rubber washer and you can hand tight them.

45 degrees, 1/2 the speed. Great technique ! I have some experience as a 'sprayman' ( more then 5 years ) doing this intuitively, but it was good to get the theory explained. Thanks Mike !

You are using the wrong type of paint or not giving it enough time to cure. Even if it ends up sticking, you can use parafin wax and rub it on the door seal. Problem solved. Some people are just lazy or like to take shortcuts. We get it. Gotta make a living. But reputation matters too. And this half assed method is bound to get you a bad wrap when someone’s friend or family member asks the home owner WTF they paid to have someone to paint “most” of their door. Its an eye sore.

I started using corflute because i didnt wanna buy new shields all the time. It goes much better. Havent looked back since using them and still on the same 3 pieces. Multiple jobs now… I got the 5mm thickness ones and just razor knifed the sheet to equal panels. Made sure they were level and to my preferred dimensions. They don’t drip (unless you water down paint too much) and you can wipe em right off or hose it off then rag it. Basically indestructible and the only shields you will ever need again…

Since this is lacquer base, will there be any compatibility issues with Clear coat and base coat system? Do we need epoxy primer over it before base coat is applied? How does this compare to a urethane 2k primer? I have a lip kit for my car I am looking to get re-done, but concerned that the primer will not hold up and there will be compatibility issue to my urethane top coats.
@surge98
@surge98 4 күн бұрын
The manufacturer claims that it's compatible with virtually all automotive paints, including urethane top coats. I paint guitars with 1k color and 2k clear, and none of them have cracked due to off-gassing or shrinking of the primer.

On the Lamb's wool or even a 50/50 synthetic natural blend sleeve charge it up in water first then spin it out if you even have a roller spinner if not you know get creative with a wall or something it expands the fibers in the nap and holds more pain than delivers a better job.

As a homeowner learning how to paint, my main mistake when rolling used to be leaving too much on the wall and it would sag and look like ice cream. Eventually I realized if I backroll such that the roller made a hissing sound, it would take excess paint off the wall and give me a very light coat. Painting my own house, I'm OK if it takes 2-3 coats. I'd rather do another coat then have to sand down an overly thick coat. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to roll just the right amount of paint without hissing, but I'm not there yet and maybe never will figure that out.

Roll out a section without hissing and when it just starts to dry out a bit backroll the same section.

I have used them occasionally, They wash out easier than any other roller cover i have wash . For the most part i like them for textured walls and ceiling or block walls but they apply to much paint on smooth surfaces.

Obviously paint is gonna come off eventually. That's just part of life. The wood will rot eventually, too. How long would you give soffit and eaves painted with basic cheap Zinser primer and then with the Behr opaque "stain." I have at least 50, if not 80% peeling paint on the shed I'm painting, and those are the products I chose. Do I need to go all the way back to wood, or just peel the junk off and plan on another fun summer day with the Ole paint roller in 5 years? Will I get more years out of stripping it down with the heat gun?

I have a Graco X5. The same pump as this Vevor. I cannot believe how long it has lasted me. I kid you not I've done atleast 20 full exteriors. Stained an insane amount of fences for a bunch of duplexes back to back. Painted several boat docks, I've even sprayed several sets of cabinets, the entire exterior and interior of my personal house. It is still working like a charm. I truly can't believe it. I also run 75 ft of hose on it which the guy at Sherwin who sold it to me said was too much hose lol.

I tried the links but they don't work. Unfortunately. In the booth i spray with hvlp and air assisted with the g40 gun flat tips also. So your setup would have been nice for jobs on location. But I'll have to stick with airless or my hvlp turbine. Somehow i just like the airless setup more for location work.
