Hey guys! To anyone wondering, I did end up going to Penn State. I am in my junior year studying mechanical engineering and couldn't be happier. The school is great and has so much to offer! I hope everyone has an easy time making their college decisions, good luck to all of you!

I can understand the off or eerie vibe you got, but when I toured (this was late October) most students were out and about and it was very lively and I loved it. I got in for ED so I’m 110% going.

hey, tell me how it's been if you've been going already! I'm in junior year and am thinking about it. My main 4 things i'm looking for is an engineering focused school, with a good music program as well, and being in a pretty place with a not overwhelmingly liberal population.

Thank you so much for your videos they have helped me a lot so far. I am down to deciding whether to attend Purdue or Penn State for aerospace engineering. Any input?
@thecollegeengineer10413 жыл бұрын
Hey Jack! Congrats on getting into both schools! Now I have to admit, I am biased because I have been here at Penn State for the past two years and I haven't even attended the Purdue campus. I do have a few friends that go to Purdue and they love it, but I also have a lot more friends that go here to Penn State with me and love it too, including me. The engineering program here at Penn State is amazing and a lot of the professors, probably like 90%, actually care about their students doing well and are good teachers. If I had to give you a suggestion, I would say Penn State all the way, but ultimately that's a decision you have to make. If you do end up going to Penn State, I am the president of a new engineering club here at the school that specializes in building massive drones. If you're interested, just let me know! Best of luck buddy!

I didn't get a chance to visit PSU nor VT, so I'm stuck on which one to choose. You got some pro's and con's for each, but just wanted to know your personal opinion on which one would be best?
@thecollegeengineer10415 жыл бұрын
I would absolutely 100 percent choose PennState! Both are fantastic schools, so really whatever you go with is gonna be great. However, I seriously thought the people, professors, and overall feel of PSU was greater than VT. if the "vibe" of the campus is not that important to you, I would possibly consider VT. But PennState, in my opinion, has a much better network, and program quality for engineering. I actually just committed to go there!
@johnster024 жыл бұрын
penn has blue colors which are less harsh. 26% lower acceptance rate which isn’t a small marigin. VT is a 3rd engineering students. which i didn’t know when i toured. which means the student body is much smaller because nearly half the school is split in two because the engineers are highly qualified and the typical students aren’t as much so. penn offers 126 majors and has the largest alumni network in the world and with 83 percent of jobs from personal connections it was a definite plus for me. penn also isn’t in the middle of nowhere like VT. and yes it’s windy. the depressed vibe i felt when i visited too because the town is dead. they say it’s only 20 min from another town and their are buses but no fucking way for me. the campus is all there is. right off the campus there are some old houses and stores from the 70s. also basically no where to eat but on campus which was a huge turn off for me because campus food can be crowded and gets old. fantastic theater building though at VT but old library. penn library is amazing and also has an actual town that was rated a top college town. penn it’s cleaner and more historic which is cooler than VT black rocks they always brag about. penn has everything vt has but more basically. check the stats. better sports in every department too. also not as boring of a drive to get to penn. VT is 3 hours of mountains and some rest stops. you definitely feel isolated, at least for me. realize that this comment was a year ago but figure i’d post anyways
@jasondegan341910 ай бұрын
No offence but I have toured both schools and the drive is equally painful, and both are in elevated areas. Their is more to do around Penn state but not that much. And yes, not many restaurants close to VT but they are rated number 2 or 3 for on campus food out of all the schools in USA. VT has limited travel options. Penn campus is bigger but also more spread out, vt is all there. Pretty close comparison. But that’s imo.
