Many years ago I was driving a taxi and a man stepped off the kerb and hailed me. It was Ernie, he was holidaying in the city I live in. He was with his wife, I took them to their hotel. What an amazing experience. This lovely man with his wonderful smiling kind face and nature.

Ernie was also (a friend who founded Brittania Lodge in NY told me this) a Mason! He and fellow actor Royal Dano were very strong advocates of a Masonic float in the Rose Bowl Parade. I don't know if that float ever happened - but I know that Mr. Borgnine had a lifelong history with the Masons. He was devoted to his community and, civic minded.

As a kid growing up in the '80s, I was absolutely mesmerized by the show "Airwolf" (still am, actually 😁). I always thought that Mr. Borgnine was the ultimate buddy/father figure. It wasn't until afterwards, I discovered the rest of his (IMPRESSIVE) body of work. RIP, Ernie. We love you & will continue to do so forever

Ernie was more than an actor. He was far more than any screen character he performed. Ernie was a MAN..A REAL MAN. A proud veteran. A humble, kind, considerate human being. He never forgot his roots or the common man. Long after he has risen with the angels. Long after his films are forgotten, Ernie as a square deal American will be remembered. What a guy!! God Bless, Marty!!

Nearly every man and woman in that room will never accomplish nor amount to the same quality of person that the decent Ernest Borgnine amounted to. And that at the age of 90-something he could walk up to those steps and speak with such humble clarity is the best gift he could give to everyone. A treasure to be sure.

They don’t make actors like these anymore. Today, most are left-wing snowflakes fakes that are always telling people how to think.

The only thing that needs to be said about Ernest Borgnine is that he was the best of the Greatest Generation that saved the world and after that, he became one of the greatest actors of all time.
