You should make a list of the best natural attractions (waterfalls, ponds, woods, etc.) around Evans and post it. With as much time as you spend in Nature, you should be able to come up with a great list for others to explore.

Sturgeon Point, a charming locale nestled in the town of Evans in Erie County, New York, boasts a rich tapestry of history that echoes the broader narrative of the Lake Erie region. Long before European settlers arrived, the area was the domain of the Seneca people, a powerful tribe within the Iroquois Confederacy. The Seneca thrived along the shores of Lake Erie, where the waters teemed with sturgeon, a fish integral to their diet and economy. The abundance of these fish would eventually lend its name to Sturgeon Point. Today, Sturgeon Point stands as a testament to its rich heritage and ongoing vibrancy. The marina, a focal point of the community, buzzes with activity, serving as a hub for recreational boating and fishing. Locals and visitors alike flock to the marina, invigorating the local economy and fostering a sense of community. Environmental stewardship has also become a cornerstone of life at Sturgeon Point. Efforts to preserve the ecological health of Lake Erie and its shoreline reflect a commitment to maintaining the natural beauty that has defined the area for centuries. Sturgeon Point continues to evolve, honoring its storied past while embracing the future. It remains a picturesque enclave where history and modernity coexist, offering a tranquil retreat along the timeless shores of Lake Erie.

With record heat expected this Summer, Lake Erie may heat up to 80 degrees, which is going to be marginally OK for algae and bacteria, but the smaller creeks and rivers are going to be a health concern for kayakers and any swimmers. Plan ahead and find out which area beaches teat water quality daily. I know some beaches test daily, some test weekly, and some do not test water quality at all except for volunteers. If you have kids or are elderly, stick to the daily tested beaches in July and August just to stay extra safe. IF in doubt or if you have any health concerns, only use the designated STATE PARKS: Woodlawn Beach State Park: This popular beach on Lake Erie is regularly tested for water quality by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Evangola State Park: Located a bit further from downtown Buffalo, this state park also conducts water quality testing. Beaver Island State Park: Situated on Grand Island, this park tests water quality to ensure the safety of its visitors. Buffalo Harbor State Park: This newer state park includes a beach area where water quality is tested regularly. Local county health departments, such as the Erie County Department of Health, typically oversee and manage the water quality testing at these beaches. They monitor for contaminants and bacterial levels, particularly E. coli, to ensure that the water is safe for swimming. It's advisable to check with these departments or the specific parks for the latest water quality reports before planning a visit.

The bill is already written out as is, in NDAA. Sorry to say but they go to the chambers tomorrow in senate & its pretty much history for us here in the states.😓

Very nice. Please shoot the entire "Lake Erie Bluffs", going from GrayCliff Estate to Suncliff Inn on the Lake. It would be very informative and a great historic base to photograph the cliff structure along this coastline, as it is one of the few remaining cliffs along the Eastern shore of Lake Erie that has not been eroded away (yet). It would be great to see the entire stretch and compare it a few years later to chart the erosion.
@scootermcc40Ай бұрын
That might be difficult to get that from the top, so getting down there takes a kayak (which I have) & a calm lake. I have a few videos where part of that stretch is explored. I will see what I can do. Weather has not been kind.
@NMOBCbrotherАй бұрын
@@scootermcc40 i think getting a documented view of the cliffs from Graycliff south would be very informative for environmental groups to study, etc.

Do you know if they are dealing with any erosion issues near Graycliff? I see a lot of erosion control going on in your video on Wendt Beach. the banks of the lake look more stable and cliff-like towards Graycliff area and out to the point south.
@scootermcc40Ай бұрын
I believe there is significant erotion based on the trees that have fallen down to the beach.

Very nice!. But just to be clear, besides showing the Niagara River and Erie Canal shores of the city of Tonawanda in Erie County, New York, at least half of the video features the city of NORTH Tonawanda, which is also on the Niagara River on the north side of the Erie Canal in Niagara County, New York.
