OK, so this video is two years old, so I'm fearful of what you've done so far, but if it were me I would change almost, nothing in this place. Trust me; it won't be much longer and all this will be the height of fashion again. I'm hearing that trends are already, starting to go back in that direction. So hold on, as soon, you won't be out of date at all, but VERY, avaunt guard! PS: Ya, I always, find these types of videos hard to watch, when I hear about owners wanting to change this or that, when it's almost, usually, pretty much, perfect as is. If this were my home I'm not sure I'd change hardly, anything, but work with everything that is already, there. I love that yellow in the kitchen. So bright and cheery, and I love how the kitchen separates from the rest of the house. Love divisions and would not change any of that, at all. Those partitions in the living room / hallway are ABSOLUTELY, STUNNING. I would not remove that in a million years, simply, to gain a little extra space. Plus, everywhere where there is spindles, I would leave as well, as I adore that look, and think it adds SO MUCH, warmth and charm to a place. Actually, if I were to change anything, it would be the stainless steel in the kitchen, as I've always, thought that was a ugly as sin anyway, and long for this to go out of style. Also, I'm not sure I would have removed any of the wallpaper either, only, slightly, modify what is already, there. I'm telling you; all this is starting to come back, and it can't happen fast enough to please me. Warmest Wishes. My Best. Out. 🙂🖐🏼😌

Don’t be fearful!! 😅 They repainted the interior of house cream before they put it on the market including painting over wallpaper on kitchen walls. No idea what it was before that. We’ve only painted some rooms so far after the popcorn ceilings were removed. Removed paper in foyer. And removed the wallpaper in the bathrooms. Had to go. It was peeling away from the walls. The original paper was ruined by the newer paper they installed over it in the 80s or 90s. We’ve simply been enjoying the house. The kitchen countertops have grown on me even though they are very worn, peeling away and some spots have lost the harvest gold coloring. If you notice in the video some of the kitchen cabinets aren’t level with each other 😂 just another quirk with this old house. We can’t find anyone to reglaze the sink yellow and it needs it badly. Choices are white or black. In due time. We’re in no rush. Takes me a while to decide. I’m not a trend follower. I simply do what I like. One must love their space. Have to live in it. It’s a great house. We love it here! It’s indeed charming. One day I’ll do another tour. Kind regards❤️

@@HappinessandSweetTea : The problem is Darling, I hear this from younger people, all the time, that they must go with what they like, then end up following the current, trends - which have dominated far, too, long, as is - because they don't seem to want to put the extra thought into it or dare to be a little bet different, at all. The current, thing is to strip a place of everything, then paint everything white, trim and everything, mind blowing; but how much brains and creativity does it take to do something like that? Non really. It's been the trend for pushing, 30 odd, years now, and it's been an absolute, torture and nightmare for those of us who appreciate and are trying to preserve, old school looks to things. That is; any kind of look/style prior to the 2000s, which all, had colour and richness to them, which seems to be demonized to no end, these days. There's a thumbnail to the right of me now, of this young lady who changed her living room from a lovely, shade of green to this dark blue, and who decided to keep her window bare, when there was lovely, blinds and curtains there before. The look before, was much more, warm and inviting, while this new look is more stark and cold. Well, at least, she kept some colour to the place, where as, most kids today, won't. I simply, struggle to understand this. I struggle to understand why styles and trends have gone in this direction and why we are finding it so, damn, difficult to move away from this now. I mean, it's not new any longer, and it's not the least bet warm, homey or inviting, at all. I mean, any kid can google image the styles and trends of any decade before the year 2000 and know EXACTLY, what I'm talking about here. A lot of it, a great portion of it indeed, was infinitely, better than what has been pumped out over the past 20 plus, going into 30 years now. Myself, I hate it with a bitter, burning, passion, but because it seems to be what almost, everybody wants today, young people in particular, and because I rent and don't own the places I live in; I'm forced to accept it anyway. So a person who rents, can't enjoy their space properly, even if they want to, and that simply, is not right. I live in a grey room, right now, a bachelor I got a few months back, which I'd never have grey in a million years, if I had the choice, as I hate the colour and find it almost, impossible to make it warm in inviting. That's the problem when ANY, style or trend goes mainstream; EVERYBODY, must accept it then, whether they want to or not. You know, this is not new, either. The white, minimalist, look was trendy amoung some people back in the 60s as well, but then, it always, remained a side thing, and never went mainstream, thankfully. It had to take another 30 to 40 odd, years and the emergence of this computer generation in order for that to happen, and now, for some unfathomable, reason; we can't seem to move back. Also, I think, anything that gives a place a distinctive look, that helps it stand out in any way, is a GOOD, thing actually, and should be left. Like those partitions in your living room / hallway for example. That adds SO MUCH, character and charm to the place, and if it were me, I'd find some way to work WITH, that rather than REMOVING IT, altogether, simply, to get the bland, generic, look everybody else has. You see what I mean? Then I noticed some lovely, spindle, additions in your kitchen, that gave your kitchen a WONDERFUL, CREATIVE, ELEGANT and CHARMING, look to it, that I would not remove myself, ever, simply to replace with the bland, generic, look everybody goes for today. You see what I'm trying to get across here? In the end; yes, of course, it's your place and you are free to do whatever you wish with it, but what is done now, in some cases, can't be so easily, undone down the road, by the next people who decide to own the place, such as replacing that spindle partition in the hallway or any other woodwork or whatever, that you may deem "dated" now. In the end; how much better to have a distinctive place, full of colour and richness, than to go with the bland, boring, dead, dry and tasteless look that is all the rage today, and that absolutely, everybody else, seems to be going for. Correct? Eventually, all these things WILL, come back into style again. I only, hope to God, I live long enough to see it myself. I watched the video where you did your foyer - that is a french word by the way, pronounced a little different than you did in your video - I'm pleased to see that at least, you put some colour and richness to it rather than simply, painting it all white and leaving it bare, as many would have. Bravo there. My thing beyond retaining the lovely, looks and styles of the past, is at the very least, simply, adding more colour and richness to our lives again. If people strive to do that, and make that trendy again, I'm reasonably, happy. Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼😌

@@ivanj.conway9919 well, then I think you’d like the deep green I painted the dining area and kitchen. It oddly paired well with the harvest gold 😌 thank you for the lovely compliment on the foyer. It’s north facing and needed brightening up a bit. Ahhh yes, the American Southern pronunciation is definitely not the French. May be why taking 2 years of French was quite the challenge for me 😂 This home is very nostalgic to us as we grew up in this era. I’m not as young as I once was. You’d be surprised that both our daughters in their 20s and their friends adore this home. One said “This is my dream home.” It is for sure all coming back around with some just as you are wishing.

@@HappinessandSweetTea : Hoping you are having a lovely Day, My Dear. Thank You for not getting annoyed with my last reply. You see, I'm in my late 50s now, and grew up throughout the 70s and 80s when everything was insanely, rich with colour and variety, and everybody loved it then. No one thought it was too much, and no one thought it was dull, dark, and dismal as so many kids today, carry on with. Yes, I understand that taste and styles change over time, but so much so quickly, has me in utter and complete, dismay. It's like when we hit the year 2000 everyone felt we needed to go all futuristic, thus destroying all the lovely, beauty and charm of decades past, and replacing it with nothing that was any better. Now we are two and half decades, roughly, into this look, and we seem to consider this normal now, and are finding it extremely, difficult to move away from it. And it seems to be getting worse and worse all the time. It seems now, that people can't have things white enough and bare enough to please them. This is NOT, how HOMES, have traditionally, been created, and I personally, simply, do not get it. Now, if that were not bad enough, I'm seeing a further trend where people more and more, are painting the outside of their places COMPLETELY, BLACK! Can you imagine?! All white and bare on the inside, and all boxy and black on the outside. I mean; REALLY?! And THIS, is considered STYLE, these days?! I simply, don't get it. I don't understand why anyone would want that, and how does this speak to how we are creating our neighbourhoods and world for tomorrow. You see? We are creating a world that is as bland and as ugly and depressing as all hell, and can't seem to see that ourselves, with no reasonable, end to it. I'm overjoyed if the teens and young adults today, that is; those in their early 20s maybe, are finely, starting to move away from these things. It gives me some small glimmer of hope that we can begin to create a lovely and rich world again, as we had in decades past. I mean, after all; how much further can we continue to go down this road anyway. We have already, stripped the world of all beauty and charm as is, how much further can we possibly, go with it?! Yes, I love my colour Darling, always have. I personally, tend to go for the lighter shades myself, but colour is always better than no colour at all, and better still, when it's mixed with a richness of variety of textures as well. I'm not into all this boxy, clean line, nonsense. I think that is bland and boring, as well, which is why I absolutely, love spindles anywhere I see them in a place, at all. I do NOT, think they are DATED, at all, and add HUGE, amounts of character and charm to a place. I did as a kid and still do now. I could bawl my eyes out when I see people rip beautiful, gorgeous, spindle work from a place, then replace that with some ugly, bland, metal or glass or what have you. Like put a gun to my head and pull the trigger, why don't you, as it would not hurt much more. To be honest with you; I hate, passionately, this whole "DATED" nonsense, anyway, as that is all, relative, as well. What goes around comes around and I hope that even, spindles will become trendy again, as well. Nice dainty, elegant, ones. They need not be the big, bulky, gaudy, ones of the 70s unless people are into that, as well. Spindles, lateses, panel board, shelving and so, so, much more. It can all, be brought back and incorporated into a place in such a way as to not looked dated at all, and be very, rich, vibrant, trendy and homey as well. Different mixtures of materials and finishes and so on. Colour and richness in HUGE, variety, as I said before. Then, bringing back plants into our homes again, which is healthy anyway, as they clean the air, apparently. And nice, elegant, nic-naks and nice, elegant wall hangings, pictures, painting, and so forth; and lovely, warm, window dressings and so forth. Everything that made a home A HOME, as we understood that in the past. I mean; why would you NOT, want that sort of thing? Honestly, I have never been able to understand this. Basically, if I were to sum it all up; the attitudes of decades past, until the past 20, odd, years or so, anyway; was to bring the colour and richness of the outdoors, indoors, sort of thing. To create the same type of environment indoors, as you see outdoors, all around you. This was a huge thing throughout the 70s in particular, and I think the idea was a good idea, overall. Did they make mistakes? Maybe, but certainly, no worse than anything we've had to put up with over the past 20 odd, years or so, for sure. So, we hit the year 2000 and a new millennium, and everyone seemed to decide to go in the complete, opposite direction instead, and now, we've created a world so ugly, depressing and hardly, worth living in any longer. Enough is enough now, and I passionately, believe we need to move back, somewhat at least, more toward the styles and trends we had in almost, every decade of the 20th Century until the past 20 odd, years or so, of the 21st. Thankfully, the teens now, and young adults at least, seem to be seeing that too, from what you say and from what I'm starting to sense over KZfaq here, which gives me some, small, glimmer of hope, anyway. And hey; they have tons to inspire them, because as I said already; all they need to do is google image the styles and trends from any of these decades and can get tons to give them ideas and inspiration, as thankfully, it is all, still, there. The images still, preserved for generations to come. I cry when I look at them myself, as I remember what we once, had and all we have lost in recent decades. It's tough, I don't mind telling you. Anyway, thanks for reading all my ramblings Darling. I hope they give some ideas and some inspiration. And I hope to live long enough to see a return of all these things while I'm still young enough to enjoy them a second time around. Much Love and Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🥰🖐🏼😌
